When they practiced this faith, the daughter returned on the ninth day, so when they heard her story, it was as follows: A strong desire arose to go to Ise, and she secretly prepared dark blue leggings and such. She also took out her own clothing and went to an old woman in the pleasure quarter who arranged various things for people, borrowed twenty-two ryō in money from her, and set out around the fourth hour of the night. At the entrance, there was a man about four shaku tall wearing the clothes of Senbei-ya Jin, who said, "Where is a young girl going in the middle of the night?" When she replied that she had set out wanting to go on pilgrimage to Ise, he said, "We are also going to Ise, so let us travel together." When she asked who he was, he said he was someone who made candlewicks and there was nothing to be suspicious about. They traveled together and left Fuchū for Ichikawa, where she felt dizzy, and from then on she remembers being carried under that person's arm, and while this was happening, that person said...
