現代語訳
乳母は大次郎をかくまい置き、今まで「てふよ、はなよ」となんの一つ不足なく育てられた御身なれば、と寝起きにつけて色々と心を付けて親切に介抱する。
「氏より育ち」とはばかりながら、この乳母がお育て申した若子様、私の目からは公家、高家の若君にもまたとあるまいお人柄。感動なさるお親御様はあまりと言えばお心強い。

〽襖、障子の身なりに、堅飯もひねって、いいよ
英語訳
The wet nurse sheltered Daijirō and carefully tended to him with various attentions day and night, saying, "You who have been raised without lacking anything, called 'Tefuyo' and 'Hanayo' until now."
"Breeding over birth," if I may say so humbly, this young master whom this wet nurse has raised - from my perspective, there would be no other person of such character even among the young lords of court nobles and high-ranking families. The parents who are moved by this are, if I may say, very strong-hearted.
