　宿同様之大変に相聞候得共宿中不残何方江

現代語訳

右の二か所は浅間山麓にあって、前述の通り軽井沢宿と同様の大変事に見舞われたと聞いておりますが、宿中の者は残らずどこかへ逃げ去ったのか、あの地の陣屋へも一向に安否が知れません。また手代どもが見分に赴きましたが、見分することもできない状況であると申し聞かせております。

右の件は、私の代官所管内の中山道信州四か所で、この度浅間山の焼石砂が降り、とりわけ信州三宿については廃村同然の状態になった趣でございますが、今もって火山活動が収まらないため、詳しく調査してご報告申し上げることはできませんが、右の件をお届け申し上げます。以上

私の代官所管内の信州佐久間郡の浅間山は、当卯年五月二十六日頃より燃え立ち始め、その後日々燃焼している様子で、折々山鳴りなどもいたしておりましたところ、特に当六月二十九日頃より大規模な噴火の様子で、一面に空へ煙を吹き上げ、その中に焼石の類もあって麓へ落下し、山鳴りも激しく

These two locations are at the foot of Mount Asama, and as mentioned above, they have suffered the same catastrophe as Karuizawa-juku. However, all the residents of these post stations have fled somewhere, and their safety remains completely unknown even to the local government office (jinya). Our clerks went to inspect the areas, but they report that inspection was impossible.

Regarding the above matter: in the four locations along the Nakasendō in Shinshū Province under my jurisdiction as magistrate, volcanic stones and ash have fallen from Mount Asama's eruption. Particularly the three post stations in Shinshū Province have been reduced to a state resembling complete abandonment. However, since the volcanic activity has not yet ceased, I cannot conduct a thorough investigation to report in detail, but I hereby report the above situation.

At Mount Asama in Sakuma District, Shinshū Province, under my magistrate's jurisdiction, eruptions began around the 26th day of the 5th month of this Rabbit Year, and it has continued burning daily since then, with occasional mountain rumblings. Particularly from around the 29th day of the 6th month, it began erupting on a massive scale, belching smoke across the entire sky. Among this, there were burning stones that fell to the foothills, and the mountain rumblings became intense.
