現代語訳
近郷の家屋等まで雷鳴や地震のように鳴り響いたとのことです。もっとも煙は東に吹き流れたため、かえって近郷には砂等は降らず、上州の方へは小石や砂の類が吹き散った所もあったとのことです。信州御影新田陣屋に配置している私の手代共が申し越してきましたので、一通り御届け申し上げます。もっとも御取箇方へも別紙をもって右の段申し上げます。

右二ヶ村は同国吾妻川通りにあり、去る九日四つ時に山津波で泥岩や火石等が夥しく押し出し、川嶋村から杢御関所、北牧村の家屋や田畑共に残らず流失しました。もっとも山手に少し家屋が残った程度で、流死人数は分かりません。存命の者はいないものと推察いたします。万一農業に出かけていたか、また は秣刈りに出ていた者は存命でいるかもしれませんが、たとえ助命したとしても餓死に及ぶより外はないとの注進が申し出られました。

The houses and dwellings in nearby villages reportedly shook and rumbled like thunder and earthquakes. However, since the smoke was blown eastward, conversely no sand fell on the nearby villages, while small stones and sand were scattered toward Jōshū province. My deputies stationed at the Mikage Shinden magistrate's office in Shinshū have reported this, so I am making a general report. I am also reporting this matter to the tax collection office with a separate document.

These two villages are located along the Agatsuma River in the same province. On the 9th at the fourth hour, a mountain tsunami brought forth a tremendous amount of mud, rocks, and volcanic stones, completely washing away all houses and fields from Kawashima Village to the Moku checkpoint and Kitamaki Village. Only a few houses on the mountainside remained. The number of deaths from the flooding is unknown. It is presumed that no one survived. If by chance anyone who had gone out for farming or grass cutting is still alive, even if they escaped with their lives, they would have no choice but to face starvation, according to the report submitted.
