私代官所上州吾妻郡郡馬郡村々山津浪
之趣先達而御届申上候所又候追々訴出候は
当月八日四ツ時信州浅間山抜ケ山津浪に而
泥水大石火石等五六丈程も高ク黒雲の
如く相見え右之内に火煙立如熱湯之に而
夥敷押出シ浅間山近辺并吾妻川通り
村々流死人数不相知田畑家居等流失
仕候も有之段近村々ゟ訴出申候若農業
施行等仕候者相残可申哉難計由申候縦

七月
私の代官所である上州吾妻郡群馬郡の村々における山津波について、先日ご報告申し上げたところ、また追々と訴え出がございます。
今月八日四つ時（午前10時頃）、信州浅間山が噴火し、山津波によって泥水・大石・火石などが五六丈（約15～18メートル）ほどの高さまで黒雲のように見え、その中に火煙が立ち、熱湯のようになって激しく押し出しました。浅間山近辺並びに吾妻川沿いの村々では、流死した人数も分からず、田畑や家屋などが流失いたしました。
そのような被害もある旨、近隣の村々から訴え出がございました。農作業などを行っていた者が生き残っているかどうか計り難いとのことです。たとえ生き残っていたとしても、餓死に及ぶほかないとのことです。
このような状況のため、道路や橋などの通路がなく、詳細な事情は分かりかねる旨、訴え出がございました。これにより、早速手代どもを派遣し見分けさせ、詳細な件については追々ご報告申し上げる予定ですが、まずは右の件をご報告申し上げます。なお、右の趣旨はお取り扱いの方へも別紙をもって申し上げております。

Regarding the debris flow (yamatsunami) in the villages of Agatsuma and Gunma districts in Jōshū province under my jurisdiction as magistrate, I previously submitted a report, and now there are additional reports coming in.
On the 8th of this month at the hour of the Snake (around 10 AM), Mount Asama in Shinshū province erupted, and due to the debris flow, muddy water, large stones, and volcanic rocks rose to a height of about 5-6 jō (approximately 15-18 meters), appearing like black clouds. Within this, fire and smoke rose up, and it rushed forth violently like boiling water. In the vicinity of Mount Asama and along the villages by the Agatsuma River, the number of people who died in the flow is unknown, and rice fields, farmland, and houses were washed away.
Reports of such damage have come from neighboring villages. It is difficult to estimate whether those who were engaged in farming and other work might have survived. Even if some did survive, they would likely face starvation.
Due to these circumstances, roads, bridges, and other passages are impassable, making it impossible to ascertain detailed information, as reported by the villages. Consequently, I have immediately dispatched my deputies to conduct inspections, and while I will report details progressively, I first submit this preliminary report. The same information has also been submitted to the relevant authorities via separate documentation.
