さて鳥山が金を貸した茶屋どもは、日々禿どもの催促に困り果て、その上帰りには悪戯に店の簾あるいは障子などを打ち破るなど暴れたけれども、子どものことなので仕方もなく、千秋の生きて一両へ相談し、右鳥山が金の取り立てが厳しいことを、その町の名主へ届け出た。

二人ともに追々返金すべし。もしまた鳥山が他所へ行くならば、仕官先まで届けるべきことも、否やとも申し渡す。
それより下々の者は鳥山を他所へ仕替えようと思えども、この沙汰はっきりしたゆえ、他所で急に口もなく、その上瀬川という虫がついているゆえ、いっかう売れないゆえ、まだ年は二年あれども仕方なく、勝手の方へ行くべしと暇をやった。かえって鳥山の幸せとなった。
また鳥山は、ある遊女の、あるまじきことをし、あとあとの風儀も悪くなることなれば、他所へ切り替え、廓を追い出し申すべしと仕官先へ申し渡す。
鳥山も理不尽なことを言われては、一言もなく、ばつが悪く

「いや、もうあの餓鬼どものようないたずらな奴はございません。」

「いやはや、女のあるまじきことを聞いたところが、理不尽の極めなど も、いっかうたわいないこと。」

But since they were children, there was nothing to be done, so they consulted with Senbō no Ikite Ichiryo, and reported Toriyama's harsh debt collection methods to the town headman.

Both should gradually repay their debts. If Toriyama goes elsewhere, whether to report this matter to his place of service or not will also be decided.
From then on, the lower-ranking people thought to transfer Toriyama elsewhere, but since this matter had become clear, there was no immediate opening elsewhere, and moreover, since he had the bug called Segawa attached to him, he couldn't be sold at all. So although there were still two years left, they had no choice but to give him leave to go to the domestic service quarters. This actually became fortunate for Toriyama.
Also, Toriyama was told that a certain courtesan had done improper things, and since this would worsen future customs, she should be transferred elsewhere and expelled from the pleasure quarters, and this was reported to his place of service.
When Toriyama was accused of unreasonable behavior, he had nothing to say and felt embarrassed.
