【右丁】
瀬川は、かねて鳥山の話で聞いていたところによると、本町に両親も妹もいるとのことなので、それでは自分が世話になっている十兵衛の姉娘であろうとは思っていたが、このようになろうとは知らず、両方にとって都合の良いもので、妹の婿になって落ち着き、今では満足している。

「それなら婿を入れて婚礼参りしたのを改めて...」

...が来たのを見て、甥が手前、鳥山がおり、私も気の毒に思い、三年の辛抱である。これさ、鳥山、これにはちょっと事情があるという所へ、確か十兵衛が倒れた。
