市郷之者駕に而往来仕候義天明度御取
究も有之処近年猥に相流剰日覆
有之駕相用候者も有之別而不届之
事に候随而先達而御取究通病人之外
駕に而往来仕義不相調候事
　但医師之義は病気痛足等之趣に寄
　駕相用候義は不苦尤駕相用候者共は
　兼而御奉行へ申出置相用可申事
右之通此度被仰付候条其方共組村浦
少しも不相洩様触知せ可申候尤医師共
五拾歳已上之者共病用に而遠路罷出
候義は格別幷右已下たり共痛処
有之砌は右同様可相心得其余駕相用
候義は難相調御趣意に候条病気痛足
等に罷有無據駕相用度医師之義は

差し上げる御請書の覚書

町や郷の者が駕籠で往来することについて、天明年間に御取り締まりがあったにもかかわらず、近年みだりに横行し、特に日覆い付きの駕籠を使用する者もおり、特に不届きなことであります。従って先日の御取り締まり通り、病人以外は駕籠での往来は認められません。

　但し医師については、病気や足の痛み等の事情により駕籠を使用することは差し支えありません。もっとも駕籠を使用する者共は、予め御奉行へ申し出ておいて使用すべきことです。

右の通りこの度仰せ付けられましたので、その方共の組村浦に少しも漏れることのないよう触れ知らせ申すべきです。もっとも医師共で五十歳以上の者共が病用で遠路出掛ける場合は格別であり、並びに右年齢以下であっても痛む所がある時は右同様に心得、その他駕籠を使用することは認め難い御趣意でありますので、病気や足の痛み等があってやむを得ず駕籠を使用したい医師については

Therefore, as per the recent regulations, travel by palanquin is not permitted except for sick persons.

　However, for physicians, the use of palanquins due to illness, foot pain, and similar circumstances is acceptable. Nevertheless, those who use palanquins must apply in advance to the magistrate before using them.

As ordered above, you must notify all villages and ports under your group jurisdiction without any omissions. However, physicians aged fifty and above traveling long distances for medical purposes are an exception, and similarly, even those under this age who have painful conditions should be understood in the same way. For all other palanquin use, it is difficult to permit according to the official intent.
