金銀掛合候分銅寬政年中改已前之
古分銅両替仲間に而遣候由相聞候に付
京大坂堺近郷之分潰等迄外に而売買
不致潰直段を以後藤四郎兵衛方へ買請させ
目軽き古分銅内々に而売買致間布方度々
相触候処今以西国幷長崎筋に而は古分銅
多く売買致し用候由相聞候此以後内々に而
売買致し候義は勿論不隠置四郎兵衛方へ
可相渡候尤四郎兵衛方ゟ分銅改役人相廻り
紛敷分銅は取上候筈に候其趣急度可相守
者也右之通先年より度々相触後藤四郎兵衛
役人相廻り改候所近来紛敷分銅をも用候由

大目付へ

金銀掛合候分銅について、寛政年中の改正以前の古分銅を両替仲間で使用している由相聞き候につき、京都・大坂・堺・近郷の分については潰し等まで他所で売買致さず、潰し直段を以て後藤四郎兵衛方へ買い請けさせ、目方の軽い古分銅を内々で売買致すことを度々触れ候処、今以て西国並びに長崎筋では古分銅を多く売買し使用している由相聞き候。この以後、内々で売買致すことは勿論、隠し置かず四郎兵衛方へ相渡すべく候。もっとも四郎兵衛方より分銅改役人が巡回し、紛らわしい分銅は取り上げる筈に候。その趣旨を厳重に相守るべき者也。右の通り先年より度々触れ、後藤四郎兵衛役人が巡回し改めたところ、近来紛らわしい分銅をも用いている由

To the Chief Inspector

Regarding the weights used for gold and silver transactions, we have heard that the money-changing guilds are using old weights from before the Kansei-era reforms. Therefore, we have repeatedly issued notices that for Kyoto, Osaka, Sakai, and nearby areas, they should not sell or buy elsewhere until melting them down, but should have them purchased by Goto Shirobyoe's office at melting prices, and that private trading of underweight old weights should cease. However, we continue to hear that in the western provinces and the Nagasaki region, old weights are still being widely traded and used. Henceforth, not only should private trading cease, but all such weights should be turned over to Shirobyoe's office without concealment. Moreover, weight inspection officials from Shirobyoe's office will make rounds, and any questionable weights will be confiscated. This directive must be strictly observed. As stated above, we have issued repeated notices since previous years, and when Goto Shirobyoe's officials made inspection rounds, we learned that questionable weights are still being used recently.
