申上添書之覚
今度従
公義海岸防禦之為寺院之梵鐘を以可鋳
換大砲小銃之旨幷銅鉄錫鉛硝石等に而
無之候而も相済候品右類に而製之義且同鉄を以
新規に仏像等鋳造不相成義に付右様相心得
組村々不洩様寺院役人共え為触知組切請書
取揃指出候様被仰付奉畏相触候処別紙之通
御受書指出候に付添書を以奉指上候以上

申し上げ添書の覚
この度、幕府より海岸防御のため、寺院の梵鐘をもって
大砲小銃に鋳換えるべき旨、並びに銅鉄錫鉛硝石等でなくても
済む品があれば、右の類で製造すること、且つ同鉄をもって
新規に仏像等を鋳造してはならない義につき、右様心得て
組村々に漏れないよう寺院役人共へ触れ知らせ、組限りで請書を
取り揃えて指し出すよう仰せ付けられ、畏って触れ申し候ところ、別紙の通り
御受書を指し出し候につき、添書をもって指し上げ奉り候 以上

Memorandum of Accompanying Letter for Submission
This time, from the Shogunate, for the purpose of coastal defense, temple bells are to be
recast into cannons and small firearms, and furthermore, if there are items that can suffice even without copper, iron, tin, lead, saltpeter, etc.,
[such items] should be manufactured from similar materials, and moreover, new Buddhist statues and such must not be cast using the same iron. Having understood this,
[we were] ordered to notify temple officials throughout the grouped villages without exception, and to collect and submit written acknowledgments from each group.
Having respectfully issued the notification, we submit this accompanying letter as the written acknowledgment has been submitted as shown in the separate document. The above.
