現代語訳

一、頭並びに平乞食の男女とも、羽織・足袋・雪駄は禁止すること

一、雨天の節は竹の子笠・蓑、これ以外の一切の雨具は禁止すること

一、女乞食は髪結い人と見分けがつかないようにならぬよう、髪は取り上げ髪にし、櫛以外は禁止すること
　　　但し木櫛を用いるべし

右は乞食どもが市中へ出かけて心ままに振る舞うことがあり、第一に男女とも分限を忘れ、着類等を取り繕い諸人に紛れるようなことがある趣で、不届きなことである。これにより右の通りこの後申し付ける儀である。もし背く者がいた場合は処罰を申し付ける。右の段、乞食どもへ厳重に申し付けるべきである。以上

英語訳

1. Both male and female head beggars and ordinary beggars are prohibited from wearing haori (half-coats), tabi (socks), and setta (sandals).

1. During rainy weather, only bamboo shoot hats and straw raincoats are permitted; all other rain gear is prohibited.

1. Female beggars, so as not to be mistaken for professional hairdressers, shall wear their hair in an upswept style, and everything except combs is prohibited.
　　　However, wooden combs may be used.

The above regulations are established because beggars who venture into the city conduct themselves as they please, and most importantly, both men and women forget their station in life, dress themselves up with fine clothing, and blend in with ordinary people, which is inexcusable behavior. Therefore, these rules shall be enforced hereafter. Should anyone violate these regulations, punishment will be imposed. These regulations must be strictly communicated to all beggars. The above.
