五、すべて煮沸時間は沸騰後少なくとも三十分間持続すべきである。
（丁）蒸気消毒 これは消毒法中の王とも称すべきものであって、これには蒸気消毒器を使用する。その際注意すべき事項は次のようである。
一、蒸気消毒に適する物品……衣類、夜具、布片、ガラス器、陶磁器、木製品、金属製品等
二、蒸気消毒に適さない物品……革類、漆器、ゴム製品、糊付け品、膠付け品、毛皮、象牙、鼈甲、角類、諸種の排泄物等
三、被服類は予め検索し、弾薬、マッチ等爆発又は発火しやすい物品がある時はこれを取り出すべきである。
四、不潔な物又は消毒中他物に染色の恐れがある物は清潔な物品と混同して積載すべきではない。
五、数多の衣類等を厳密に束ね包んだまま積載する時は蒸気の浸透が十分でない恐れがあるので、消毒物品の積載はなるべく緩やかで疎らであることを良しとする。
六、消毒器内に被消毒物を納める際には消毒衣を着用して事に従い、運び入れた後は直にその手を石炭酸水にて消毒し、然る後蓋をなすべきである。そして消毒完了の上は清潔な消毒衣を着し、消毒した手をもって取り出すべきである。
