現代語訳

弓の長さは七尺余り。地に立てると屋根の軒と同じ高さになる。矢を中国の矢と比べると、一握りほど短い。射る時は必ず地に立てて構える。的を持つ時は正中央ではなく、下の狭い所を狙う。弦を引いて矢を放つ。皆、決と拾を用いること古制の通りである。射程はそれほど遠くない。旧記録に言う。二百歩の外を射ることは未だ見たことがない、と。

正月　桃が美しく咲く《割書：碧桃・絳桃・桜桃がともにこの月に開く》長春が初めて栄える《割書：四季咲き、この月が最も盛んである》

二月　木筆が空に向かって咲く　海棠が赤い　棠梨が華やか　春菊に芳香がある
《割書：百合・麗春花がともにこの月に開く》月橘の実が赤い《割書：月橘は一名十里香。花は六月に開く。実が赤く累々としている。この月に至って木に満ちる》
浮草が初めて生える　田豆を収穫する　蟋蟀が鳴く　蟄竜が海に出る

三月　粟蘭が香る　石竹が花咲く《割書：玫瑰・薔薇・藤蘿・罌粟がともにこの月に開く》　紫蘇が

英語訳

The length of the bow is over seven shaku. When stood on the ground, it reaches the height of house eaves. Compared to Chinese arrows, the arrows are about one grip shorter. When shooting, one must stand the bow on the ground. When holding the target, one aims not at the center but at the narrow part below. Drawing the bowstring and releasing the arrow, all use thumb rings and arm guards according to ancient custom. The range is not very far. An old record says: shooting beyond two hundred paces has never been seen.
