また。唇の上の髭を剪って揃えさせる者は、時々いる。

五官正

国中でただ三種類の人が、皆僧のように髪を剃っている。一つは医官となる者で、五官正と名づける。一つは王宮で茶役を執る者で、宗叟と名づけ、また御茶湯とも名づける。六人である。また庭園を管理する六人がいる。皆完全に髪を剃り、黒色の六稜幔頂で広い縁の帽子を戴く。これを片帽と名づける。衣の外に多く短掛一領を着る。大衣に比べると略々二三尺許り短い。黒色である。この二種類の人は皆時を問わず働いている。髪を梳くと時間がかかることを恐れ、故に皆簡便に従うようにさせていると云う。

Five Officials Supervisor (Gokan-sho)

In the country, there are only three types of people who all shave their hair like monks. One type serves as medical officials, called "Five Officials Supervisor" (Gokan-sho). Another type serves tea duties in the royal palace, called "Sosou" and also named "御茶湯" (Ochayu). There are six of them. There are also six people who manage the gardens. They all completely shave their hair and wear black six-ridged dome-topped hats with wide brims. These are called "single hats" (kata-boshi). Over their clothes they mostly wear short jackets (tan-kake) of one layer. Compared to regular robes, they are about two to three shaku shorter. They are black in color. These two types of people are always working regardless of the time. They fear that combing their hair would delay their duties, so it is said that they are all made to follow this convenient practice.
