一 権現様城御せめ被成候ニハ何方にても一方は御明け候て御取巻候せ

一 関原御合戦の時三州藤川ゟ村越茂助御使に上方衆へ御遣候
上方大名細川越中加藤肥後山内対馬田中兵部浅野紀伊
守堀尾信濃黒田筑前加藤左馬其他大勢清冽迄被参御
馬遅しとて毎日待かね被罷在候其時大形福嶋太夫殿羽
柴三左衛門殿両人は上方衆の二頭にて居被申候本多中書井伊
兵部両人是又一日代ニ先をして被登候折節各清冽の城に
て堀廻りの処へ村茂助被参中出兵部被申候は何とて被参候由
申候へは茂助被申候は上方大名衆藤川迄御座候先の様子知れ候
はず候間是ニ御逗留被成候由御使ニ参り候と被申候へは右両人まつ
相待候へ上方大名衆御馬何とて遅きと無心計被存あやぶみ被
申候処へ左様の御使被申候はゝ猶以各不審ニ可被存候まつ飯を給
られよとて台所にて飯を御振舞候茂助飯を喰上ふと心に出
申候分別に御使に参よかれあかれ御意の通り不申候へはあやま
りに成候と存中出兵部殿座敷へ出酒のあいさつめされ候内に
ふと座敷へ茂助出被申候へは各大名衆茂助殿何とて御越御由尋
被申候中出も兵部殿も卒忽ニ出被申候とあきれて御入候茂助は
かまい無く各へ御使ニ参候とて右の通り有様ニ被申候へは諸大名
衆尤に候先手御馬を相待取かけ候はぬ故に敵味方定めか
現代語訳
一 城中から橋を焼くことがあるなら、焼かせた方が良いと仰せられた。これも夜討ちのためである。城へ乗り込む時は橋も堀も同じことである。
一 城を取り囲む時、囲みの前に橋があるなら心を付けるべしと各々物語られた。もし夜討ちを城から打つことがあるだろう。
一 権現様が城攻めをなさる時には、どの方向でも一方は開けておいて取り囲み攻めをなさるのである。
一 関ヶ原御合戦の時、三州藤川から村越茂助を御使いとして上方衆へお遣わしになった。上方大名は細川越中守、加藤肥後守、山内対馬守、田中兵部少輔、浅野紀伊守、堀尾信濃守、黒田筑前守、加藤左馬助、その他大勢が清洲まで参った。御馬（出陣）が遅いとして毎日待ちかねていらした。その時大体福島太夫殿と羽柴三左衛門殿の両人は上方衆の二頭として居られた。本多中書と井伊兵部の両人はこれもまた一日交代で先陣をして登っていた。折節、各々清洲の城にて堀回りの所へ村茂助が参った。中出兵部が申されたのは「何として参られたか」と申されると、茂助が申されたのは「上方大名衆が藤川まで御座候。先の様子が知れませぬ間、ここに御逗留なさる」との御使いに参りましたと申されると、右の両人「まず相待て。上方大名衆の御馬が何として遅いのかと無心ばかり存じ、案じ申していた所へ、そのような御使いを申されるなら、なお以て各々不審に存ずるであろう。まず飯を給われよ」として台所にて飯を御振舞いした。茂助は飯を食い上げようと心に思い申したが、分別に「御使いに参ったからには、良かれ悪しかれ御意の通り申さねば過ちになる」と存じ、中出兵部殿の座敷へ出た。酒の挨拶を召された内に、ふと座敷へ茂助が出て申されると、各々大名衆「茂助殿、何として御越しになられたか」と尋ね申された。中出も兵部殿も卒忽に出て申されたと呆れて御入りになった。茂助は構わず各々へ「御使いに参った」として右の通りの有様に申されると、諸大名衆「もっともである。先手の御馬を相待ち、取りかからぬ故に敵味方定めが
