行きさえすれば、言うじゃありませんか」
〽（おかめ）「それだとしても、その行く所が、どんな家かわからないが、大方気詰まりでしょうから、さあ夫婦の契りを交わしておくれなさい」
〽（与兵衛）「夫婦の契りは、どうするつもりだ」
〽（おかめ）「何だ、わかりきったことを。知らないふりをして、さあさあ」
〽（与兵衛）「するのか」
〽（おかめ）「そうさ」
〽（与兵衛）「この原っぱでどうなるものか」
〽（おかめ）「何、あなた、こんなところへ誰が来るものですか。私はあの夜の婚礼騒ぎに、気をもんだものですから、まだ落ち着かない。どんな騒ぎだとお思いになりますか。婿が今来るのなんのと、それは大騒ぎさ。その最中で逃げ出したものを、後のことは知らないが、思いやられますよ」
〽（与兵衛）「お前が駆け出さないで、まごついていようものなら、今夜今時分は、一番やられるところだ。その時はどんな顔だろう、見てえ」

〽 (Okame) "What are you saying? Who would come to a place like this? I was so anxious during that night's wedding commotion that I still haven't calmed down. Having run away in the middle of all that, I don't know what happened afterward, but I can imagine."
