サアいかう、〽（かめ）マアおまちナ、おみナ、このいくちの
ねヘなりヲ、よくしたくして行（いく）はなト、身ごし
らへしてたちつれだち、与兵衛（よへい）とともニたど〳〵
と、足（あし）にまかせて行（ゆく）ほどに、とある百姓家（ひやくしやうや）
にいたり、門（かど）の戸（と）をほと〳〵とおとづれて、〽（与）モウシ
少（すこ）しおたのみ申します、トいへば内（うち）より、
しはがれたる声（こは）ねして、〽どなたへトこたふる
こゑもおぼつかなく、〽（与）与兵衛（よへい）でござります、
夜（よ）ふけてあがりおきのどくながら、チヨツトこゝ
をあけて下（くだ）さりまし、トいふにいらへて門（かど）

へとの言葉（ことば）をしほに、二人（ふたり）とも内（うち）に入（い）れば、
現代語訳
「さあ行こう」
〽（おかめ）「まあお待ちなさい。お見なさい、この行くときの身なりを、よく身支度して行きなさいよ」と、身づくろいをして連れ立って、与兵衛と共にたどたどと、足の向くままに歩いて行くうちに、とある百姓家に着いて、門の戸をほとほととたたいて、
〽（与兵衛）「もし、少しお頼み申します」と言うと、内からしわがれた声がして、
〽「どなたですか」と答える声も頼りなく、
〽（与兵衛）「与兵衛でございます。
夜更けに起こしてしまってお気の毒ながら、ちょっとここを開けてくださいませ」と言うのに答えて、門口を開けるのを見れば、もう七十歳近い婆さんが、
〽（婆さん）「おや、どなたかと思ったら、珍しいお客さま。大変ご無沙汰申しました。何しに今時分いらっしゃった。おや、お連れがいらっしゃるかい」
〽（与兵衛）「はい、女連れです」
〽（婆さん）「おや、そうかい。今時分に。まあこちらへ」との言葉を合図に、二人とも内に入ると、

〽 (Okame) "Wait a moment. Look, fix up your appearance properly before we go." After tidying themselves up and setting off together, they walked along with Yohei, letting their feet take them where they would. Eventually they arrived at a certain farmer's house and knocked on the gate door, tap tap tap.
〽 (Yohei) "Excuse me, I have a small favor to ask," he said, and from inside came a hoarse voice.
〽 "Who is it?" came the uncertain reply.
〽 (Yohei) "It's Yohei.
Though it's late at night and I'm sorry to wake you, could you please open up here for just a moment?" In response to this request, when the gate opened, they saw an old woman approaching seventy years of age.
〽 (Old woman) "Oh my, who could it be? What an unexpected guest! I'm terribly sorry for not keeping in touch. What brings you here at this hour? Oh my, do you have a companion with you?"
〽 (Yohei) "Yes, I'm with a woman."
〽 (Old woman) "Oh, I see. At this hour. Well, come this way." At these words as their cue, both of them entered the house.
