一御屋敷御家中へ他所ゟ使差越候はゝ東御門西御門右両所共に先様遣候主人之方
尤此方御長屋誰方へ参候哉承届帳面に記置相通可申候右使之者難見届風俗
にも候はゝ送人差添参候て申達相違無之趣承届可申候
一不断御屋敷へ商に不罷越かけ通之商人壱人も御門へ堅入申間敷候不断不罷越者
に候はゝ見知申者は入可申候縦令御屋敷へ数年商に罷越候者売子家来にても不見知者に
候はゝ遂吟味候て入可申候
一御家中百石以上之面々は他所ゟ使之者参候はゝ誰方ゟ誰方へ使に参候由早々御門所へ
断使差出筈に候
附御切米取之儀は人遣も無之候間に付断使難差遣趣に候末々之者共に御門ゟ使之者送り
届可申候其内段々使参候共送り人弐人送参候得は御門に差留置送り人帰
次第追付送届申候様に可仕候右之送人之儀は御先足軽両人差出置候間御門番人

一、御屋敷御家中へ他所から使いを差し越す場合は、東御門・西御門右両所共に、先方が遣わした主人の方、もっともこちら御長屋の誰の方へ参るか承り届け、帳面に記し置いて通すべきこと。右使いの者が見届けがたい風俗である場合は、送り人を差し添え参って申し伝え、相違ない趣を承り届けること。
一、普段御屋敷へ商いに来ない通りがかりの商人は一人も御門へ堅く入れてはならない。普段来ない者であっても見知った者は入れてよい。たとえ御屋敷へ数年商いに来ている者でも、売り子・家来であっても見知らない者である場合は、吟味を遂げてから入れること。
一、御家中百石以上の面々は、他所から使いの者が参る場合は、誰方から誰方へ使いに参る由、早々御門所へ断りの使いを差し出す筈である。
附け：御切米取りの件は人遣いも無いので断りの使いを差し遣わしがたい趣である。末々の者共に御門から使いの者を送り届けること。その内度々使いが参っても、送り人二人を送り参らせれば御門に差し留め置き、送り人が帰り次第追って送り届けるようにすること。右の送り人の件は御先足軽両人を差し出し置くので、御門番人共が吟味を遂げて送り人を指し遣わすこと。
一、御守殿御女中共の方へ宿々から使いを差し越す場合は、吟味を遂げ承り届け、帳面に記し置いて通すべきこと。早速、樫尾又左衛門・柳下瀬兵衛・中根利兵衛、この者共から御門へ小遣いの者を断りに差し越す筈である。紛らわしい者の体に見受けられる場合は送り人を差し添えて指し遣わすこと。

When messengers are sent from elsewhere to the mansion's retainers, at both the East and West Gates, confirm which master sent them and to which person in our long houses they are going, record this in the ledger, and allow them to pass. If such messengers appear to be of dubious character that is difficult to verify, assign escorts to accompany them when they go to deliver their message, and confirm that there are no discrepancies.
1. Traveling merchants who do not regularly come to the mansion for business must absolutely not be allowed to enter the gate. Even those who don't usually come may enter if they are known persons. Even if someone has been coming to the mansion for business for several years, if their servants or retainers are unknown persons, conduct an examination before allowing them entry.
1. For retainers of 100 koku or more, when messengers come from elsewhere, they must quickly send notice to the gate post stating from whom and to whom the messenger is coming.
Note: Regarding rice stipend recipients, since they have no servants to send, it is difficult to send notice messengers. For lower-ranking members, the gate shall send escorts to deliver the messengers. Even if messengers come repeatedly, if two escorts are sent, they shall be detained at the gate, and sent on with escort as soon as the escort returns. For these escorts, two advance ashigaru are assigned, so the gate guards shall conduct examinations and dispatch appropriate escorts.
1. When messengers are sent from various lodgings to the lord's heir's female attendants, conduct examinations, receive details, record in the ledger, and allow passage.
