　一町方ゟ買物調候付町人呼寄候事有之候はゝ先達て御門所へ断可有之候右之者罷
　　越候節は人指出召連罷通候様に仕候筈に候帰候節猶以人指添送出申筈に候間

　　右之趣相心得紛敷者之分堅入不申様に能々遂吟味相通候様に可被申付候以上

　之留右之外他所屋敷ゟ奉公人体之者御屋敷へ商に参候者紛敷候間御門差留候旨留有之

現代語訳

一、町方から買い物を調えるため町人を呼び寄せることがある場合は、先立って御門所へ断りを入れるべきである。右の者が来る節は、人を差し出して召し連れて通るようにする筈である。帰る節にはなおいっそう人を差し添えて送り出す筈であるので、いよいよ右の通り取り扱うこと。
　右の趣旨を心得て、紛らわしい者の分は堅く入れないよう、よくよく吟味を遂げて通すよう申し付けるべきである。以上

一、元文四年未年八月八日の留：御飛脚が着いた。江戸御門所の上杉民部太輔殿内の軽い扶持人で脇指を差し入れる者を御門で差し留めた旨。同十四日の留：右の外、他所屋敷から奉公人体の者が御屋敷へ商いに参る者が紛らわしいので御門で差し留めた旨の留がある。

1. When summoning townspeople from the town quarters to procure purchases, advance notice must be given to the gate post. When such persons come, an escort shall be sent to accompany them through. When they return, an escort shall be assigned to see them out, so this procedure must definitely be followed.
　Understanding this principle, suspicious persons must absolutely not be allowed entry, and thorough examinations must be conducted before allowing passage. The above.

1. Record of Genbun 4, Year of the Sheep, 8th month, 8th day: A courier arrived. A person of light stipend status from Lord Uesugi Minbutayu's household in Edo, who was carrying a wakizashi sword, was detained at the gate. Record of the same month, 14th day: In addition to the above, servant-type persons from other estates coming to the mansion for business were deemed suspicious and detained at the gate.
