一侍小者はすは成者前々ゟ御法度に候間弥以堅可相守事
一刀は弐尺八九寸脇指は壱尺八九寸是ゟ長き は( 為ヵ)指申間敷候縦令御定ゟ短候共其
身之恰好に不似合目に懸り候刀脇指さゝせ申間敷事
一鰔鮫にせ共幷色鞘さゝせ申間敷事
附金銀之鍔にせ共に堅停止之事
一大髭大ひたひ撫付御法度に候間若党中間小者草履取は不及申御直之
下々に至迄堅可相守事
右前々ゟ 公儀御法度之趣に候間面々下々え堅申付若違犯之輩於有之は
可為曲事者也
延宝四辰二月日
一元禄八亥三月於江戸御長屋何も侍中へ被仰出趣
一面々寄合之儀御用は各別常に寄合酒なと給候事勝手勘略之ためも如何に候間向後暮 六(ツ)時以後は堅可致無用事
一自他所得客候共断申暮前返し可申事
一暮以後病人有之医者又は一家之者呼寄申儀候はゝ先達て目付共へ相断可申遣事
右之趣被 仰出候間堅可被相守候自他所親類縁者無拠筋目之者来り為致一宿候儀只今迄の如く目付中へ可被相断候以上

江戸における御法度書の御覚え
一、侍小者の博打は成らぬ者、前々より御法度に候間、いよいよもって堅く相守るべき事
一、刀は二尺八九寸、脇差は一尺八九寸、これより長きは差し申すべからず候。たとえ御定めより短く候とも、その身の恰好に似合わず、目に掛かり候刀脇差させ申すべからざる事
一、鰔鮫にせよ共、並びに色鞘させ申すべからざる事
附 金銀の鍔にせよ共に堅く停止の事
一、大髭大額撫付御法度に候間、若党中間小者草履取は申すに及ばず、御直の下々に至るまで堅く相守るべき事
右前々より公儀御法度の趣に候間、面々下々へ堅く申し付け、もし違犯の輩これ有るにおいては、曲事たるべき者なり

Memorandum of Prohibition Orders in Edo
1. Gambling by samurai retainers is forbidden, as it has been prohibited from long ago, and must be strictly observed.
1. Swords shall be 2 shaku 8-9 sun, short swords shall be 1 shaku 8-9 sun. None longer than these shall be worn. Even if shorter than the official standard, swords and short swords that are unsuitable for one's physique and conspicuous to the eye shall not be worn.
1. Neither ray skin nor colored scabbards shall be used.
Attached: Gold and silver sword guards are also strictly prohibited.
1. Large beards and large foreheads with slicked-down hair are prohibited. From retainers, attendants, servants, and sandal-bearers to all direct subordinates, this must be strictly observed.
The above matters have been prohibited by the government from long ago. Each person must strictly instruct their subordinates, and should there be any violators, they shall be considered guilty of misconduct.

1. Regarding gatherings among individuals: official business is separate, but regular social gatherings with drinking are problematic for household economy management. Henceforth, after 6 o'clock in the evening, such activities are strictly forbidden.
1. Even when receiving guests from elsewhere, politely decline and send them back before evening.
1. If there is a sick person after evening and it is necessary to summon a doctor or family member, first obtain permission from the inspectors.
The above has been proclaimed and must be strictly observed. When relatives or people of unavoidable connection from elsewhere come to stay overnight, permission must be obtained from the inspectors as has been done until now. That is all.
