英語訳

Regarding permission for palanquin use. For other cases, it is not acceptable without unavoidable reasons and proper notification. For those of yōnin rank and above, notification is given in advance to this office, and at the gate office, passage is granted with permission from acting representatives. 1. On New Year's Day, January 15th, the five seasonal festivals, and Hassaku, the front gate shall be opened, and additional guards shall be assigned to both guard posts. The same applies even during years when the lord is in residence in the domain 1. When persons of low rank do not return from outings until after the gate is closed, if their supervisor or master requests to send out searchers, this shall be ordered to the gate office for dispatch. 1. Monthly gate registry ledgers for the upper mansion east and west, and Reiganjima shall be submitted twice each month on the 1st and 16th by the gate keepers to the inspectors. Previously these were reported to the senior councilors, but recently they are not being reported (However, even under the jurisdiction of foot soldier inspectors, after examination, the inspectors should examine them) 1. When there are pregnant women among those in permanent residence within the mansion, upon reaching full term, notification is given to request calling midwives for nighttime delivery, and at that time, the gate office is ordered to allow unobstructed passage during the night. The same applies even for those of lower status 1. There are precedents for calling medical practitioners from outside the gate to the retainer households for stays of two or three days. However, there are many records of the precedent when Suzuki Jūzaemon made such a request in Hōreki 6 (1756) 1. For nighttime gate passage on official business by samurai, permission comes from the secretaries' office through the chamberlains. The inspectors are also informed. In such cases, notification is sent to the gate office. For all others of lower rank, permission comes from the inspectors. 1. Regarding circulars from caretakers to senior inspectors, nighttime gate entry and exit requires personal authorization 1. For the gate office, senior councilors, middle councilors, chamberlains, and personal attendants, whether for official or private business, personal authorization suffices. In medieval times, magistrates, inspectors, and caretakers had personal authorization. 1. When persons are ordered to be expelled from both mansions' gates, the gate offices of the three mansions shall be instructed that they are not to be allowed entry thereafter, and when there are persons granted pardons, the gate offices shall also be instructed at that time. 1. Written orders barring entry to the three mansions shall be delivered to the gate offices for all persons from samurai to the lowest ranks who have previously been granted leave. When such persons are granted permission to enter the domain, if there is no objection to their entering the mansion at this time, the written orders previously filed with the gate office shall be withdrawn. 1. Whether stipend recipients or retainers of retainers, if they become unable to walk due to illness while out and must return by palanquin, or if there are unavoidable circumstances that cause them to return after the gate is closed, the gate office must be notified of such circumstances in advance. After returning, such circumstances must be reported to the inspectors. 1. When samurai request to go out in formal palanquins, frequent notification has been given to the inspectors. They should go out after receiving acknowledgment from the inspectors.
