追って御条目写し申したき面々は申し聞くべく候。
英語訳
1. When entering the dismounting rest area, from samurai to all lower ranks, conduct shall not be disorderly. This must be strictly instructed to all retainers immediately.
2. Not only at the dismounting area, but anywhere else as well, one shall not seek gifts at the gates or gate fronts of the host's residence.
3. Tobacco shall not be consumed during retinue duty. Moreover, flint and tinder shall not be carried.
However, if a tobacco tray is offered by the host, it may be used with proper decorum.
4. When visiting other locations during intervals, one shall not walk about carelessly within the host's estate grounds.
5. From samurai to all lower ranks in the retinue, conspicuous clothing shall not be worn. Moreover, silver sword guards, shark-skin scabbards, and elaborate sword mountings are prohibited.
However, single-sword bearers and attendants shall wear dark blue uncrested garments. Other clothing types are strictly prohibited. Additionally, brass or copper sword guards that are conspicuous are prohibited.
6. From samurai to all lower ranks and attendants, sedge hats shall be used. Conspicuous hats are prohibited. Bamboo shoot hats are absolutely forbidden.
7. Tabi (split-toe socks) are strictly prohibited for all retinue members. Those with foot injuries must report this the evening before. For lower-ranking personnel and attendants, this is especially forbidden. [Red notation: "Water drop version: When members of the retinue have injuries and need to use tabi with straw sandals, this must be reported to the retinue head for instructions. The inspector must also be informed of this matter. For foot soldiers and below, this must be reported to the inspector through the foot soldier inspector."]
8. Samurai and foot soldiers shall use straw sandals and half-sandals. In case of heavy rain, the use of straw sandals shall be instructed by the retinue head. When straw sandals are needed due to injuries, this must be reported to the retinue head for instructions.
However, young retainers may choose between straw sandals and regular sandals at their discretion. When attending castle duties, those wearing formal court dress who ascend to the ceremonial platform may have their sandal-bearers wait at the main entrance, so blue-lacquered rain gear and sandals may be worn. The same applies to regular outdoor duties.
9. Equipment handlers, pages, servants, palanquin bearers, and other lower personnel shall use straw sandals. Sandal-bearers shall use regular sandals.
10. During retinue duty, all instructions from the [retinue head] [marginal red text: water drop version - inspector] must be followed, and [other] [marginal red text: same - moreover] instructions given through the foot soldier inspector [matters] [marginal red text: same - directives] shall not be disobeyed.
[Red insertion: "Same - Other instructions from the retinue head shall not be disobeyed"]
Moreover, all retainers must be strictly instructed beforehand not to disobey instructions from the foot soldier inspector.
Note: Lower personnel and attendants must not disobey instructions given by supervising foot soldiers.
11. When waiting during retinue duty and when going to meet [the lord], the formation shall not be broken during travel, and lower personnel shall not engage in idle conversation. This must be strictly instructed to all retainers.
The above principles must be understood beforehand, and all retainers must be strictly instructed accordingly. End.
