 切支丹宗門并悲田宗御改に付御広敷方男女宗門相改候処切支丹  并悲田宗にて無御座候右何も寺々ゟ宗門手形取置候且亦召仕之男  女宗旨手形面々手前為取置申候為後日請合證文仍如件     年号月      名と字印      御目付中 一定府之面々は悲田と申儀有之詰越之勤番へは悲田宗と申儀相除け差越申候  尤詰越之儀も翌春へ詰越に相成候面々計に候秋迄詰越は罷帰申候て於御国  表差出候故於江戸表は指出不申候 一一ツ橋様ゟ御附之面々は一ツ橋様へ毎年指出候事故右手形差出候分に致呉候  様先達てゟ申聞候趣に候得共何之年ゟ手形不指出と申儀無之候ては如何に付  申談之上狛帯刀方へ相伺候処一ツ橋様にて右体之儀に候はゝ此方様にて改て為  指出候にも及間敷旨被申聞安永四未年ゟ御触共に不差遣候 一右前々ゟ宗旨御改三月五日御触差出手形取集候分封之御土蔵御用箱  入置候尤手形案紙御触書切支丹御用箱に納置      宗門改 一侍中家督被 仰付候得は寺證文指出候様申達候事寺方判元御徒目付遣し  為見申候事小役人以下は其同席ゟ判元見に罷越候事例年春指出候召仕之  者宗旨受合證文之事は支配頭役替等有之候得は取替候事 一例年三月五日宗門御改受合證文之事手形三月廿日切に指出候様に御家中  両御屋敷町宅之面々も相触候事 但真柄勘慶方へは宗旨触不指越候事

現代語訳

切支丹宗門並びに悲田宗御改めにつき、御広敷方の男女の宗門を相改めたところ、切支丹並びに悲田宗ではございません。右何れも寺々より宗門手形を取り置いております。また召使いの男女の宗旨手形も面々手前のために取り置き申しております。後日のため請合証文、よって件の如し。     年号月      名と字印      御目付中 一、定府の面々は悲田ということがあり、詰越の勤番へは悲田宗ということを除いて差し越し申します。もっとも詰越のことも翌春へ詰越となる面々ばかりです。秋まで詰越は帰参申して、御国表において差し出すため、江戸表においては指し出し申しません。 一、一橋様より御附の面々は一橋様へ毎年指し出すことゆえ、右手形差し出す分にしてくれるよう先達てより申し聞かせた趣きですが、何年より手形を指し出さないということがないのはいかがなものかと、申し談の上、狛帯刀方へ相伺ったところ、一橋様にて右のような儀であれば、こちら様にて改めて指し出すにも及ばない旨を申し聞かせ、安永四未年より御触ともに差し遣わしません。 一、右前々より宗旨御改め三月五日御触、差し出し手形取り集めた分は封をして御土蔵の御用箱に入れ置きます。もっとも手形案紙、御触書、切支丹御用箱に納め置きます。      宗門改め 一、侍中家督を仰せ付けられれば寺証文を指し出すよう申し達すこと。寺方判元は御徒目付を遣わして見申すこと。小役人以下はその同席より判元を見に罷り越すこと。例年春指し出す召使いの者の宗旨請合証文のことは、支配頭役替えなどがあれば取り替えること。 一、例年三月五日宗門御改め請合証文のこと。手形は三月二十日切りに指し出すよう御家中両御屋敷町宅の面々も相触れること。ただし真柄勘慶方へは宗旨触れを指し越さないこと。

Regarding the investigation of the Christian sect and Hita sect, we have investigated the religious sects of the men and women of the palace quarters (gohirosiki-kata), and they are not Christian nor of the Hita sect. For all of the above, we have obtained sect certificates from their respective temples. We also keep on hand the religious sect certificates of our male and female servants. For those on permanent duty (teifu), there are cases of the Hita [sect], but for those on rotating duty (tsumekoshi), we exclude the Hita sect matter when sending them over. Of course, regarding rotating duty assignments, only those who will continue their rotation into the following spring [are included]. Those on rotation until autumn return home and submit [certificates] at the domain, so they do not submit them in Edo. 1. Those attached from the Hitotsubashi house submit annually to the Hitotsubashi house, so we have been requesting for some time that they be included in the certificates we submit. However, since there has never been a year when certificates were not submitted, after consultation, we inquired with Koma Tatewaki's office. [We were told that] if such is the case with the Hitotsubashi house, there is no need for us to separately submit [certificates], and from Angen 4 (1775), we do not send official notices to them. 1. From previous times, regarding the religious sect investigation with official notices on March 5th, the submitted certificates collected are sealed and stored in the official use boxes in the treasury. Naturally, certificate drafts, official notices, and Christian-related [documents] are stored in the Christian affairs box.      Religious Sect Investigation 1. When samurai are appointed as family heads, they are instructed to submit temple certificates. Temple seal verification is conducted by dispatching ashigaru inspectors. For minor officials and below, their colleagues go to verify the seals. Regarding the guarantee certificates for servants' religious sects submitted each spring, these are replaced when there are changes in supervising officials. 1. Regarding the annual religious sect investigation guarantee certificates on March 5th: Certificates must be submitted by the March 20th deadline. This applies to retainers of both residences and town houses as well. However, official notices regarding religious sects are not sent to Magara Kankei's office.
