飛出しを押へて命恙なかりしかと逃出んよすがなし漸 棰（タルキ）の
折れたるか手に障りしを得て屋根を穿ちて二人ともにのかれ出
たり其余【餘】は皆亡ひ失たりとそ
〇同三浦屋吉右衛門は穴蔵に入て助らんとてあるし夫婦娼妓と
倶に台【臺】所の穴蔵に入りしが程なく家潰れ其身には当【當】らさり
けれと思はさりきあたりより火出て程なく此家にも火移りて後烟
にむせびて残らす死り

○遊郭岡本屋長次郎は近世廓内の富豪である。地震の時、主人長次郎は一旦逃げ出したが、父（隠居）の安否が確認できないではいけないとして、その時隣家から火が燃え近づいてきたので、裸になって家の奥に入った。しかし間もなく猛火が一気に燃え移り、その身も夫婦（父）も息子夫婦も皆この災害にあい、家族全員が同時に亡くなった。哀れというべき、悲しむべきことである。
○同じく稲本屋の主人は基礎を囲んでいたが、家が潰れて側にいた

この家の妻と幇間の長作がこの下敷きになったが、長作は片目が少し飛び出すのを押さえて命に別状はなかったものの、逃げ出す手段がなかった。ようやく垂木の折れたのが手に触れたのを得て、屋根を穿って二人ともに逃れ出た。その他は皆亡くなってしまったという。
○同じく三浦屋吉右衛門は穴蔵に入って助かろうとして、主人夫婦が遊女と共に台所の穴蔵に入ったが、程なく家が潰れた。その身には当たらなかったけれども、思いがけず辺りから火が出て程なくこの家にも火が移り、後に煙にむせんで残らず死んだ。

○The brothel owner Okamotoya Chōjirō was one of the wealthy families in the quarter in recent times. During the earthquake, the master Chōjirō once fled outside, but saying he could not leave without confirming his father's (the retired head's) safety, when fire from the neighboring house approached at that time, he stripped naked and went into the back of the house. However, before long fierce flames spread all at once, and he himself, the married couple (father), and his son and daughter-in-law all suffered this disaster, with the entire family perishing at the same time. It is pitiable and lamentable.
○Similarly, the master of Inamotoya was surrounded by the foundation, but when the house collapsed, he was beside it

This house's wife and the jester Chōsaku were trapped underneath, but Chōsaku, though one eye bulged out a little which he held down and his life was unharmed, had no means of escape. Finally getting hold of a broken rafter that came to hand, he broke through the roof and both escaped together. All the others perished.
○Similarly, Miuraya Kichiuemon tried to save himself by entering the cellar, and the master and his wife entered the kitchen cellar together with a courtesan, but before long the house collapsed. Though it did not strike them directly, unexpectedly fire broke out from the surroundings and soon spread to this house as well, and later they all died from suffocation by smoke.
○Similarly, the master of Tanimotoya (a shop that had moved from Fukagawa) died in the fire while still carrying his purse containing money. When one courtesan from this house was coming down from the second floor, the stairs shook so she mistakenly [fell into] the cellar
