直ちに出火し、御留守中に残らず焼失した。事が鎮まった後、右の陸尺伝蔵・平右衛門は二百石ずつ下され、無役の者に召し出されたということである。
○小川町定火消組屋敷は当時御頭が不在で手明組であった。右組の同心・鳶・人足合わせて三十八人が即死、怪我人百余人、その上屋敷は残らず類焼した。
○小普請支配で高千九百石、小石川町一橋通りの大久保筑前守殿は今日縁談の件につき早川清吾殿が入来し、談合が済んで次の間へ送り出す時、子息の主馬殿・栄之丞殿も共に送り出し、奥へ入ろうとする折に一時に揺れて潰れ、父子三人即死、家来男女九人即死した。また右の早川氏は一町余り行って小川町所々の出火に帰路を塞がれ、御堀端より牛込へ帰られたということである。

者が孝行な者であったが、養父の老病につき金三両を与えて養父の方へ暇を遣し、病気の世話をしていた。さてその後に当主は自身の座敷へ入る時、地震で屋敷が残らず潰れ、当主即死、家士男女十一人即死した。その時右の喜内は途中から馳せ帰り、主人の安否を伺おうとしたが、右騒乱の中なのでようやく主人の居所を掘り出したけれども、既に死んでいた。されども近火なので主人の死骸を抱えて市ヶ谷まで退き、また取って返して再度屋敷へ来て所々の火を消したということである。その労苦は察するべきである。

○The Ogawa-chō regular firefighting unit's residence had no head officer at the time and was an idle unit. Thirty-eight people from this unit including dōshin (patrol officers), scaffolding workers, and laborers died instantly, over a hundred were injured, and moreover the entire residence was destroyed by fire.
○Ōkubo Chikuzen-no-kami, supervisor of minor construction with 1,900 koku stipend on Koishikawa-chō Hitotsubashi-dōri, had Hayakawa Seigo visit today regarding a marriage proposal. After the discussion was completed and he was seeing him out to the next room, his sons Shume and Einosuke were also seeing the guest out and were about to enter the inner quarters when everything suddenly shook and collapsed. The father and two sons died instantly, and nine male and female retainers also died instantly. The aforementioned Hayakawa had walked more than one chō when fires broke out in various places in Ogawa-chō, blocking his return route, so he returned to Ushigome via the moat embankment.
○Ōkubo Awaji-no-kami, a middle inner page with 300 hyō stipend in the same area, had a retainer named Shimada Kinai who

was a filial person. Due to his adoptive father's old age and illness, he gave him three ryō in gold and granted him leave to go to his adoptive father's place to tend to his illness. Later, when the master was entering his own sitting room, the earthquake caused the entire residence to collapse. The master died instantly, and eleven male and female retainers died instantly. At that time, Kinai rushed back from the road and tried to check on his master's safety. In the midst of the chaos, he finally managed to dig out where his master was, but he was already dead. However, because fire was approaching, he carried his master's corpse and retreated to Ichigaya, then returned again to the residence and extinguished fires in various places. His hardship should be acknowledged.
[Note: "陏" is used to mean "隋" but "陏" is a different character. It appears to be a miswriting of "随," which is said to be either an abbreviated form or corruption of "隋."]
○Ishikawa Mino-no-kami, a personal attendant with 4,530 koku stipend on Ogawa-chō Hitotsubashi-dōri, had retainers Suzuki Shinbei and his son Shinroku who, not fearing the earthquake, rushed toward their master's sitting room but were crushed at the entrance and died instantly. Additionally, three others from the household and five other men and women died. A fire broke out from the Koyama residence in the same area.
