十八才当世の佳人にして又能書なるか此夜一室の内にて梁に敷れ即死

〇西丸下御厩御頭諏訪部氏は地震之節一ト先庭へ立出しが風と心付
何やら大切なる物取落したる様子にて住居を見返るにいまた潰ざ
る故立戻居間へ這入らるゝと其侭家倒て即死の由其外組下に
も両三人即死ありしとなん
〇丸の内或侯の藩中二日の夜泊番を同役に頼けるか地震出火に逢
て頼れし同役は焼死し頼みし人の命は恙なしよつて其番を頼ま
れて死せし人の妻愁歎の余【餘】彼助命したる同役の宅へ来り繰
返し恨みをのへて涕泣しける故頼みたる人ももて余【餘】しけるか風

と取昇し【とりのぼし＝分別を失わせる】様子にて扨々是非もなき次第也其申訳【譯】致さんといふ
より早く脇差を抜切腹して果けると也其時に恨を云ひたる妻
女も驚き本心に立帰り申分なき次第とて又其刃物を取て自身
咽を貫きて果けると也一人のみか三人迄其事に付て落命せしも
宿業のいたす処にやと皆人舌を巻て驚きしとなり

十八歳で当世の美人であり、また能書家でもあったが、この夜一室の内で梁に敷かれて即死したということである。
○西丸下御厩御頭諏訪部氏は、地震の際にまず庭へ立ち出たが、ふと心付いて何やら大切な物を取り落としたような様子で住居を見返ると、まだ潰れていないので立ち戻って居間へ入ったところ、そのまま家が倒れて即死したということである。その他組下にも二三人即死があったという。

分別を失った様子で「さてさて是非もない次第だ、その申し訳をしよう」というより早く脇差を抜いて切腹して果てたということである。その時に恨みを言った妻女も驚き、本心に立ち返って申し分のない次第だとして、またその刃物を取って自身の咽を貫いて果てたということである。一人のみならず三人まで、その事に付いて落命したのも宿業の為すところであろうかと、皆人舌を巻いて驚いたということである。

The wife who had been expressing her resentment was also shocked and, returning to her senses, said it was a blameless matter, then took the same blade and pierced her own throat, dying as well. Not just one person, but three people died over this matter - perhaps this too was the work of karma, and everyone was amazed and speechless.
