けるに頓而【やがて】《割書：なゐ｜地震》ゆりいてゝ家はこほれにけれともかくのかれ出てう
からやからいさゝかあやまちもなかりけるとそ
○笠間のとのゝみうち人某の子十はかりなるか太き柱に左のかゐな
を敷れたりしに傍なる人にいふやう我か腰なる／脇（ハキ）差をとりて
給はれといふいかにするそと問へは腕を切て逃んと云に聞人
幼き者なれと倭魂のたけきをめてゝあまた打より柱を取のけ助つ

○吉原角町に浜の一トいふ目しひ人の富たるありうたい／女（メ）をやし
なひ置て世を渡りけりなゐの揺出るやいなや妻はかとの外へに
け出ぬかのうたひ女のうちに安といへる十六才なるか浜の一の手
をとりて先外の方へ出しやりやかておのれは跡に残り居て先祖の
位牌貸出したるこかねの券と納戸に収ありしこがね抔取持ちて
立出る程に火燃出て近つきぬされとあるしの妻の行ゑ【「へ」とあるところ】覚束
なしと道の畔を見れは隣の塗こめ崩れ落たる土の下に屍あり
けれは引出んとするに後迄火もえきて袖もこけなんはかりに
なりぬれはなく〳〵立のきてあるしの行ゑ【「へ」とあるところ】をもとめえて持出
たりしものとも残るところなく渡しけるとそ
○下谷金杉町に匠の棟梁何かしといへるは梁落かゝりて足を敷れ
けれは弟子を呼てのこきりといふ物にて引切らんとするに火
燃出ちかつきしかは梁を切らんよりはとく足を斬れといふにそ
現代語訳
すると間もなく地震が起こって家は崩れてしまったが、このようにして逃げ出すことができ、家族に少しも怪我はなかったということである。
○笠間の殿様の家臣の某の子で十歳ほどの者が、太い柱に左の腕を挟まれてしまった。そばにいる人に向かって「私の腰の脇差を取ってください」と言う。「どうするのか」と問うと「腕を切って逃げよう」と言うので、聞いた人々は幼い者でありながら大和魂の勇敢さを褒め称えて、大勢で協力して柱を取り除き助けたということである。
○吉原角町に浜の一という盲人で富裕な者がいて、歌妓を養って生計を立てていた。地震が揺れ始めるやいなや、妻は門の外へ逃げ出した。その歌妓のうちに安という十六歳の者がいて、浜の一の手を取ってまず外の方へ出してやり、自分は後に残って先祖の位牌、貸し出していた金の証文、納戸に収めてあった金などを持って立ち出ようとするうちに火が燃え出して近づいてきた。しかし主人の妻の行方が気がかりだと道端を見ると、隣の土蔵が崩れ落ちた土の下に死体があったので、引き出そうとしたが後から火が燃えてきて袖も焦げそうになったので、泣く泣く立ち去って主人の行方を探し当てて、持ち出したものをすべて残らず渡したということである。
○下谷金杉町に大工の棟梁で何某という者は、梁が落ちかかって足を挟まれてしまった。弟子を呼んでのこぎりという道具で引き切ろうとしたが、火が燃え出して近づいてきたので、「梁を切るよりも早く足を切れ」と言った。

Soon after, an earthquake occurred and the house collapsed, but in this way they were able to escape, and none of the family members were injured at all.
○A retainer of the lord of Kasama had a child of about ten years old who got his left arm trapped under a thick pillar. He said to the people nearby, "Please take the short sword from my waist." When asked "What will you do?" he replied "I will cut off my arm and escape." The people who heard this praised the brave Yamato spirit of this young child, and many people worked together to remove the pillar and save him.
○In Yoshiwara Kadomachi, there was a blind but wealthy man named Hama no Ichi who made his living by keeping singing girls. As soon as the earthquake began to shake, his wife fled outside the gate. Among those singing girls was a sixteen-year-old named Yasu, who took Hama no Ichi by the hand and first led him outside, then remained behind herself to retrieve the ancestral tablets, promissory notes for money lent out, and gold stored in the closet. As she was about to leave, fire broke out and approached. However, being concerned about the whereabouts of her master's wife, she looked along the roadside and found a corpse under the earth where the neighboring storehouse had collapsed. She tried to pull it out, but fire came from behind and her sleeves were about to be singed, so crying bitterly, she departed, found her master, and gave him everything she had rescued without keeping anything.
○In Shitaya Kanasugi-cho, a master carpenter named so-and-so had a beam fall on him, trapping his leg. He called his apprentice to cut it with a saw, but fire broke out and approached, so he said "Rather than cutting the beam, quickly cut off my leg."
