か其跡に洪波溢濫（カウハエキラン）して猟師町残らす海中へ溺れけるとそ此頃
江の島の御神深川において啓龕（カイチヤウ）ありし頃なれは岩本院の僧

小石川なる何某漁猟を好けるか此日も品川の沖に網（アミ）せんとて
昼下りより支度して出けるに南の方一円【圓】に赤くなりたるを看て

小日向新屋敷の辺りにいる某氏は、近頃深川碗倉という所に居を構えて住んでいたが、この夜家が潰れかつ洪水が溢れたので、自分は首に衣服を結びつけて辛うじて水を渡り、ようやく逃れることができたが、妻は水に流されるのを助けることができずして行方不明となった。ようやく小日向にある（某の）住居に来て尋ねると、これも風で潰れたという。

相州江ノ島漁師町の者たちは全員無事である。その理由は、この日夕方から近海の波間に火の光があって輝いているのを人々が見て怪しみ、「これは夕陽が波間に輝いているのではないか」と言って済ませていたが、その夜に至って海面に大量に火が燃えるのを見た。これはただ事ではないということで、各自山々へ財産を背負って逃げ上がったが、その後に大波が溢れ氾濫して漁師町は残らず海中へ沈んでしまったということである。この頃江ノ島の御神体が深川において開帳されていた時期であったので、岩本院の僧がこの事を語ったということである。

The physician Hirano Jin'an, who was at that residence, saved himself and his mother, but his wife was swept away by the collapsed house and drowned in the water. Though he watched her die, he was unable to help her, and his daughter became critically ill from drinking contaminated water.
A certain person living near the Kohinata new residence had recently set up his dwelling in a place called Wankura in Fukagawa. On this night his house collapsed and floods overflowed, so he tied his clothes around his neck and barely managed to cross the water and escape, but he was unable to help his wife who was swept away by the water, and her whereabouts became unknown. When he finally reached the residence in Kohinata and inquired, he was told that it too had been destroyed by the wind.

All the people of the fishing village of Enoshima in Sagami Province were safe. The reason was that from the evening of this day, people saw a fiery light shining in the waves of the nearby sea and found it strange, saying "Perhaps this is the evening sun shining on the waves," and left it at that. But when night came, they saw a great deal of fire burning on the sea surface. Thinking this was no ordinary matter, each person carried their possessions on their backs and fled to the mountains. Afterwards, great waves overflowed and flooded, and the entire fishing village was submerged in the sea.
