In the 12th month of the same year, he was dispatched for official duties related to the defense of Ezo-chi. There he served for several days managing sea and land transportation, and after completing his duties without incident, he returned with the remaining forces. For this service, he was provided with a meal at the castle.
In the 1st month of the 6th year, Mi (1809), when unit leader Miyake Magobei was reassigned, he was transferred to the unit of his successor, Ibuka Shizuma.
In the 8th month of the same year, having completed his service duties for the defense of Ezo-chi, he was granted one ceremonial garment (jifuku).
In the 11th month of the 7th year, Uma (1810), he was appointed as a gaiyo samurai (outer retainer) for Soshu province and was assigned to Harada Bunsuke's unit.
In the 8th month of the 8th year, Hitsuji (1811), he was ordered to serve guard duty at Misaki in Soshu province.
In the 11th month of the same year, he was appointed to permanent duty as a gaiyo samurai at Misaki in Soshu province.
In the 10th month of the same year, when unit leader Harada Bunsuke was assigned to Kannonzaki duty, he was transferred to the unit of his successor, Nagasaka Heitayu.
