沈佺期（しんぜんき）も武則天（ぶそくてん）の事（こと）にて中宗（ちうそう）の御／咎（とが）めを蒙（かうむ）り驩州（くわんしう）へ流（なが）された睿宗（えいそう）即位（そくゐ）ありて召返（めしかへ）
され修文館（しゆふんくわん）の学士（がくし）となりし時（とき）の作（さく）ならめ此度（このたび）恩（おん）をうけ南方（なんばう）の驩州（くわんしう）より朝廷（てうてい）へ来（きたり）しは

　　再び道場に入って事を記す　応制

南方より帰り去って再び天に生まれる。内殿は今年昔年と異なっている。見るに乾坤を開いて新たに位を定め、日月を題して更に高く懸ける様子を見る。行きて香輦と仙へ登る道に随い、座して炉煙講法の筵に近づく。自ら喜ぶ深い恩を受けて侍従に陪し、両朝とも長く聖人の前にあることを。

沈佺期も武則天の事件で中宗の咎めを受け、驩州へ流刑となった。睿宗即位があって召し返され、修文館の学士となった時の作品であろう。この度恩を受けて南方の驩州より朝廷へ来たのは、再び天に浮かび生まれ変わったようで、仏経にある「生天」の字を用いた。内殿の様子も今年見上げれば昔年の御先代と異なるのはなぜかといえば、明らかに乾坤を開いて新たに睿宗が即位されたからである。御先代中宗の宸筆と当代の宸筆と二つの勅額を見れば、日月両輪のごとく更に高い処に懸けてある。御供をして行けば、天子の香袋を掛けた御輦に召されて御幸される道を進み行く。登仙路は御幸の道という意味である。

　　Entering the Temple Hall Again to Record Events - Composed by Imperial Command

Returning from the south, I am reborn again in heaven. The inner palace this year differs from years past. I see the universe opened and a new throne established, observing the sun and moon inscribed and hung even higher. Walking, I follow the fragrant imperial carriage on the path ascending to immortality. Sitting, I draw near to the mat where dharma is taught amid incense smoke. I rejoice in myself, having received deep imperial favor to serve as an attendant, remaining long before the sage ruler through both reigns.

Shen Quanqi was also implicated in Wu Zetian's affairs and received rebuke from Emperor Zhongzong, being exiled to Huanzhou. When Emperor Ruizong ascended the throne, he was recalled and became a scholar at the Xiuwen Academy - this poem was likely composed at that time. Having received imperial grace and come from Huanzhou in the south to the court, it was as if he had floated up to heaven and been reborn, using the Buddhist term "shengtian" (rebirth in heaven). The appearance of the inner palace when I look up this year differs from previous years under the former emperor - this is because clearly the universe was opened and Emperor Ruizong newly ascended the throne. Looking at the two imperial calligraphy plaques - one from the previous Emperor Zhongzong and one from the current emperor - they hang in an even higher place like the sun and moon. When accompanying the imperial procession, one advances along the road where the emperor rides in his fragrant imperial carriage for the imperial visit. "The path ascending to immortality" means the path of the imperial visit.
