現代語訳

遥かに蔡起居の偃松篇に同じ

清らかな都の多くの木々は総じて栄え香っている。伝え聞くところでは、その孤松が最も群を抜いて優れているという。その名は天の朝廷に接して景色も多く、その気は宮殿に連なって瑞気を借りている。池に懸かった枝は点々と美しい露を留め、偃蓋のように重なり合って瑞雲を払っている。松脂を惜しまず仙薬の鼎を助け、願わくは楨幹（良材）をもって明君に捧げたい。

【印「栖霞」】

蔡は姓で、起居とは天子のお側で動作を記録する役職である。その役所の庭に偃蓋のような松があることを詠んで、張説が岳州にいた時に贈った詩があるが、遥かに隔たっていても同じ偃松篇を作り、蔡起居の勤務ぶりの良さを松になぞらえて贈ったのである。

清らかな都の様々な木は総じて栄え香っているが、とりわけ伝え聞くところでは、あなたの役所の前にある一本松は最も優れて他の木々を抜きん出ているという。それゆえその名は天子の朝廷に知られて御覧にもなり、賞賛されるので一層景色も美しい。松の気が宮殿に続いているため、禁裏にたなびく瑞気を借りている。松の枝が横に伏して池の上に差し掛かっているため、松の葉の先にきらきらと光る露を留めている。松は水を吸うので枝が傘のように段々に重なり合って瑞雲を払うようである。さて、天子が仙薬を製造なさるなら松脂が必要なので、この松から取られるなら少しも惜しまない。起居の勤務ぶりが良いのをこれになぞらえ、松脂ばかりでなく良材が御用なら、願わくは真木をもって明君に捧げたいと、起居がいざという時は命も惜しまない忠勤をこれになぞらえて言ったのである。

Echoing from afar the "Leaning Pine Poem" of Cai Qiju

The many trees of the pure capital all flourish and are fragrant. It is said that the solitary pine stands out most among the group. Its name reaches the heavenly court with abundant scenery, and its spirit connects to the palace halls, borrowing the auspicious mist. Hanging over the pond, it holds sparkling dewdrops, and like a covering canopy, it sweeps away the auspicious clouds layer upon layer. Not sparing its resin to aid the immortal cauldron, I wish to offer fine timber to the enlightened ruler.

Cai is a surname, and Qiju refers to an official position that records the emperor's movements while attending him. There is a pine like a leaning canopy in the courtyard of that office, and Zhang Yue composed a poem about it when he was in Yuezhou. Though separated by great distance, I compose the same "Leaning Pine Poem," comparing Cai Qiju's excellent service to the pine in this gift poem.

While all the various trees in the pure capital flourish and are fragrant, it is particularly said that the solitary pine in front of your office building stands out most excellently among all trees. Therefore its name reaches the emperor's court, where it is viewed and praised, making its scenery all the more beautiful. Since the pine's spirit continues to the palace, it borrows the auspicious atmosphere that drifts through the imperial quarters. Because the pine's branches lie horizontally extending over the pond, they hold sparkling dewdrops on the tips of the pine needles. Since pines absorb water, the branches layer upon layer like umbrellas, seeming to sweep away the auspicious clouds. Now, if the emperor were to manufacture immortal medicine, pine resin would be needed, so if it were taken from this pine, there would be no reluctance to give it. Comparing this to Qiju's excellent service, the poem says that not only pine resin, but if fine timber were needed for imperial use, he would wish to offer precious wood to the enlightened ruler - thus comparing Qiju's loyal service, where he would not spare even his life in times of crisis, to the pine's generosity.
