In the 8th month of the same year: His stipend was set at 8 ryō and 4-person rice allowance as before, and he was appointed as御小性 (gokoshō, page to the lord). In the 3rd month of the 7th year of the same era (Meiwa 7, 1770): He accompanied [his lord] to Edo. Note: Thereafter, while serving as gokoshō, he served as an attendant for trips between Edo and the domain, also served as an assistant to the attendant guards, and was appointed to duties at Mita residence, Furukawa tea house, and horse-related affairs. In the intercalary 6th month of the same year: Since he was from a family skilled in horsemanship, he was to devote himself even more to equestrian arts, and regarding this matter, he was directly ordered to go to the stables daily and oversee the care of the horses. In the 7th month of the same year: Since his guard duties were suspended, he was ordered to serve every other day from the hour of the Horse in the morning (6 AM) until night duty. In the same month: Since there was an accumulation of old garments that had been worn by the lord, he was given a crested kosode (short-sleeved kimono). Note: Due to his diligent service in palace duties and treasury payments, he was frequently granted hemp ceremonial dress, horse-riding hakama, and gold and silver. In the 6th month of the 8th year of the same era (Meiwa 8, 1771): He was appointed as a temporary御膳番 (gozenban, dining attendant). Note: He was appointed to this position repeatedly thereafter.
