【図の説明】
片帽
片帽は皆黒色の絹で作られており、頭頂部を覆い下に庇を作って六角形にしている。寒い時の家庭での帽子で、医官、楽工及び王宮で茶や水を注ぐ役目の者で、僧のように髪を剃った者が皆これを着用する。

笠
笠は多くは麦の茎で作られているが、皮製の笠もあり、外側に黒漆を塗って内側を朱色にしている。

短簪
短い髪飾りの簪は長さ三、四寸ほどで、すでに冠をつけて頭頂部の髪を取り除いた者がこれを挿す。飾りの頭部は円柱状で、方柱や六角柱もある。金が最も貴重で、金の頭部に銀の柱が次に良く、銀がその次、銅が最も下等である。

長簪
長簪は長さ一尺余りで、婦人や幼童で大きな髻を結う者がこれを挿す。これも金、銀の三品で貴賤を分ける。民家の女性の簪は皆玳瑁製である。

片帽 (Side cap)
All side caps are made of black silk, covering the top of the head with a brim below forming six ridges. These are caps worn at home during cold weather, and are worn by medical officials, musicians, and those who serve tea and pour water in the royal palace who have shaved their hair like monks.

笠 (Hats)
Most hats are made from wheat stalks, though there are also leather hats with black lacquer applied to the outside and vermillion on the inside.

短簪 (Short hairpins)
Short hairpins are about three to four sun in length, worn by those who already wear caps and have removed the hair from the top of their heads. The decorative heads are cylindrical, with some being square or hexagonal columns. Gold is most precious, followed by gold heads with silver shafts, then silver, with copper being the lowest grade.

長簪 (Long hairpins)
Long hairpins are over one shaku in length, worn by women and young children who wear large topknots. These are also classified into three grades of gold and silver to distinguish social status. Hairpins of common women are all made of tortoiseshell.
