月季花（キ） 和名 今按ずるに「長春」。虎関（コクワン）の済北集に云く、この花は四時
常にあるが故に月月花と名づく。今、俗に長春と云う、云々。

The Enlarged Tashikihen, Climbing Plants section states:
Monthly rose (月季花, ki-ka) Japanese name Upon current examination: "chōshun" (ever-blooming). The Saihoku-shū by Kokan states that this flower blooms throughout all four seasons, and is therefore named "month-after-month flower" (月月花). Nowadays it is commonly called "chōshun" (long spring), and so forth.
Supplementary alternative names: Month-after-month flower (tsukizuki-bana) ○ Shōshun (surpassing spring) ○ Sōkaku (thin guest) ○ Tōsetsukō (crimson that battles the snow)
The Honzō Ikka-gen states: The "shikihara" flower (月継花) is the same as
chōshun and tsuki-ri-ka (月李花), they are all the same plant, and so forth.
