現代語訳

十七日に播州姫路において死去した。兵部大輔の実兄で
　　　ございますが、兵部大輔儀は当家へ養子として参りましたので、
　　　半減の忌服を請け申します。これにより御届申し上げます。以上

一　同日、去る三日に御料所百姓の苗字帯刀の件について、御勘定所で
　　お渡しになった御書付の趣旨を申し渡すように、金津奉行・郡奉行へ
　　御家老が申し渡し、左の通りの書付を相渡した。

　　　　　御料所の村々において百姓・町人が苗字名乗り・帯刀する
　　　　　件について、格別の理由がある場合は伺いの上、御下知次第、奉行
　　　　　所で申し渡します。容易に奉行所でも申し付ける件ではありません。しかしながら、
　　　　　苗字名乗りをする者がおり、吟味の上、相当の咎めを申し渡しました。
　　　　　他にも右のような者がいるかどうか、吟味を遂げ、不埒がないように
　　　　　改めるべきです。

一　十一月二十七日、御忌明けにつき御届のため、御用番本多伯耆守正珍殿へ
　　御留守居加藤長右衛門正敏が罷り出た。

One: On the same day, regarding the matter of farmers in the domain taking surnames and wearing swords that occurred three days ago, to convey the content of the written order given at the accounting office, the chief retainer gave orders to the Kanazu magistrate and district magistrate, and handed over the following document:

　　　　　Regarding farmers and townspeople in domain villages taking surnames and wearing swords,
　　　　　when there are exceptional circumstances, after inquiry and upon receiving orders, the magistrate's
　　　　　office shall convey instructions. This is not a matter that can be easily ordered even by the magistrate's office. However,
　　　　　there were those who took surnames, and after investigation, appropriate punishment was given.
　　　　　Whether there are others like this elsewhere should be investigated, and reforms should be made to prevent impropriety.

One: On November 27th, for notification regarding the end of the mourning period, caretaker Katō Chōemon Masatoshi went to see Lord Honda Hōki-no-kami Masayoshi who was on duty.
