身心養生記
夫（それ）万物は天地の病也凡無物に物生し無事に事の
おこる事は天にあつては天の病地にあつては地の病国
に有ては国の病人に有ては人の病草木に有ては草木
の病／鳥獣（てうしう）にあつては鳥獣の病なりおしこめていはく
天地の病也／青（せい）天白日の時無物無事にして天も無
病の時なり忽（たちまち）に雲／起（おこり）電（いかつち）なりいなびかりするはこれ無
物に物生し無事に事をこる則天の病なり忽に雲／起（おこ）
るは人の俄（にはか）に痰（たん）胸（むね）にあつまるがことしいかつちのなる事
は人の腹（ふく）中に火うこき腸（はらはた）のなるがことし雲は水也／雷（らい）
のひゞく事は水雲火気をつゝんて火内にうごきはしり

現代語訳
身心養生記
そもそも万物は天地の病である。およそ無物に物が生じ、無事に事が起こることは、天にあっては天の病、地にあっては地の病、国にあっては国の病、人にあっては人の病、草木にあっては草木の病、鳥獣にあっては鳥獣の病なのである。押し込めて言うならば、天地の病である。
青空白日の時は無物無事にして、天も無病の時である。たちまち雲が起こり、雷が鳴り、稲光りするのは、これ無物に物が生じ、無事に事が起こる、すなわち天の病である。たちまち雲が起こるのは、人が俄かに痰が胸に集まるようなものである。雷が鳴ることは、人の腹中に火が動き、腸がなるようなものである。雲は水である。雷の響くことは、水雲が火気を包んで、火が内に動き走ることである。

Record of Cultivating Body and Mind
All things in nature are diseases of heaven and earth. Generally speaking, when things arise from nothingness and events occur from tranquility, these are diseases of heaven when they occur in heaven, diseases of earth when they occur on earth, diseases of the nation when they occur in the nation, diseases of people when they occur in people, diseases of plants when they occur in plants and trees, and diseases of birds and beasts when they occur in birds and beasts. To put it succinctly, they are diseases of heaven and earth.
During times of clear blue skies and bright sun, there is nothing and no events - this is when heaven is free from disease. When clouds suddenly arise, thunder roars, and lightning flashes, this is when things arise from nothingness and events occur from tranquility - that is, heaven's disease. The sudden arising of clouds is like when phlegm suddenly accumulates in a person's chest. Thunder roaring is like when fire moves in a person's belly and the intestines rumble. Clouds are water. The resonance of thunder occurs when water clouds envelop fire energy, causing fire to move and race within.
