ども悉（こと〴〵く）古迹（こせき）にあらざるものなし若（もし）それ津（しん）を問（と）ひ撟（けう）を問（と）はゞ徒（むな）
しく紙数（しすう）を長（ちやう）じて煩蕪（はんぶ）の厭（いと）ふべきのみならず翻（かへり）てまた探勝（たんしよう）の
便（たより）を失（しつ）せん是（これ）もとよりおのれが志（こゝろざし）にあらず今 此（この）書（しよ）はたゞ尋常（じんぢやう）の
耳目（じもく）に觸（ふる）るものを挙（あげ）て以て編次（へんし）をなすのみ若（もし）好事（かうず）の君子（くんし）と覽（らん）
古（こ）の雅客（がかく）とは笻（きよう）をひき山徒（さんと）に繹（たづ）ねて而（しかう）して后（のち）にその詳（つまびらか）なるを

【右丁】
ども、すべて古跡でないものはない。もしそれらの詳細を一つ一つ問い尋ねれば、むなしく紙数を増やして煩雑で厭わしいものになるだけでなく、かえってまた探勝の便利を失うであろう。これはもとより私の志すところではない。今この書はただ普通の人の耳目に触れるものを挙げて編集するのみである。もし好事の君子と古きを愛する風雅な客とは、杖をついて山の案内人に尋ねて、そして後にその詳細を知るべきである。

all are ancient sites without exception. If one were to inquire into every detail and seek out every trace, it would not only vainly increase the number of pages and become tediously verbose and disagreeable, but would conversely also diminish the convenience of scenic exploration. This is certainly not my intention. This present book merely takes up those things that touch the ordinary person's eyes and ears to form its compilation. If gentlemen with refined interests and elegant guests who love antiquity wish to learn more, they should take up their walking sticks, inquire of mountain guides, and then afterward come to know the details.
