古鍾（こしよう）の銘（めい）
此（この）古鍾（こしよう）は文化八年丙丁の災（わざはい）に罹（かゝ）りけるゆゑ翌（よく）九年 奉（ほうじて）＿レ命（めいを）新鍾（しんしよう）
を鎔（よう）する时（とき）此（この）故銘（こめい）を載（のせ）て前大僧正凌雲沙門尚詮と銘（めい）ぜり其（その）銘（めい）
文（ぶん）兹（こゝ）に略（りやく）す
日光山權現御宝前 奉施入鑄金一口事
右志者爲左衛門尉藤原政綱北方藤原氏《割書：并》所生
愛子等御息災延命恒受快樂心中所念决定成就
也

古鐘の銘
この古鐘は文化八年の火災に遭ったため、翌九年に命を受けて新鐘を鋳造する時、この古い銘文を載せて前大僧正凌雲沙門尚詮と銘を刻んだ。その銘文をここに略記する。
日光山権現御宝前 鋳金一口を奉施入すること
右の志は左衛門尉藤原政綱北方藤原氏並びに所生の
愛子等の御息災延命恒に快楽を受け心中所念決定成就の
ためなり

Inscription on the Ancient Bell
This ancient bell was damaged in the fire of Bunka 8 (1811), so in the following ninth year, when a new bell was cast by imperial command, this old inscription was included and inscribed with the name of Former Great Monk Supervisor Ryōun, monk Shōsen. The inscription text is abbreviated here.

The purpose of this offering is for the peaceful safety, longevity, constant happiness, and complete fulfillment of the heartfelt wishes of Saemon-no-jō Fujiwara Masatsuna, his wife from the Fujiwara clan, and their beloved children.
