When they say "the lord's women come out and act haughty in quarrels," first of all their mouths are so noisy that even Japanese women aren't this bad. What noisy things - most fittingly, if you write the character for "woman" three times, it becomes the character for "noisy," and as one can surmise, it's nothing but women. Saburo-hei felt his blood pressure rising too.
Even taking the lucky draw pestle to the long palace quarters of the Kamakura lord's residence couldn't compare to this. His desire to quickly go to another island and hear men's voices was perfectly reasonable.
