第一に馬を相し馬さま馬勢出所走り乗所
力肉の程ころふ勢い馬の身相を見定又は三つの
大用といふ乗形なとありて是等の趣を習ひ秘
して昔はたかゐに勝負を励差る事と聞へし
右之御神領も年を経て保元平治の世の乱れ
と成て朝廷もこれよりやゝ衰へ平家権を執て

二拾余年神領も平家のために被押領又は
武士の狼藉に逢ふて運送も懈怠する事

零落せしを鎌倉源二位頼朝公寿永文治

【右丁】
第一に馬を観察し、馬の様子・馬の勢い・出身地・走り方・乗りやすさ・力・筋肉の程度・転ぶ勢い・馬の身体的特徴を見定める。また「三つの大用」という乗形などがあって、これらの趣旨を習い秘伝として、昔は高位の者に勝負を励ませる事と聞いている。

First, they observe the horses, assessing their appearance, vigor, origin, running style, ridability, strength, muscle condition, tendency to fall, and physical characteristics of the horses. There are also riding forms called "Three Great Uses" (mitsu no daiyō), and the principles of these were learned as secret traditions. Then once again, due to the Jueishō disturbances, the shrine offerings gradually declined. However, Minamoto no Yoritomo, the Second Court Rank of Kamakura, during the Jueishō and Bunzi eras, took responsibility for carrying out imperial edicts, and having faith in our shrine that was exceptionally deep compared to others, issued official documents for several large estates.
