植付されは忽憔悴せるものなり花菖蒲は
水草なり迚水抜無鉢に植付水を湛て養ふ
もの多けれとも盆植に養ふ時は力微にして
十分に肥かたきゆへ本生の花開きかたく葉
薄く弱けれは霜降《割書：九月中｜の節》比には葉全からす
水抜ある盆植の草は肥しをひく事速なる
ゆへ十分に肥て草強きかゆへに暮秋にいたり
朝毎の霜にも馴て夏時の姿を失す花あら
すして眺あり偖亦実生初咲の草盆植に
せんとならハ開花の時花形の優劣を鑑定して
根のくされさるやう掘揚花圃に移し植養
措伏彼岸に至り前顕の扱いにして植付る也
春時彼岸中鉢の侭堀出し日強の場に並へ措
尤木の葉ハ取掃なり萌芽凡三寸程生出たる
時より花篠葉組の中にきさしける迠魚肥し
三度花後より夏土用明迠二度都合五度養ふ
且亦向暑に至鉢ハ鍔際迠土中へ埋措されハ炎暑に
鉢中熱して新根憔悴せるもの也花圃植の
草は花後三四篠片に分根し草の表を外へ

植える時は根に付いた土をすべて洗い落とし、しばらく乾かしてから
植え付けると、たちまち萎れてしまうものである。花菖蒲は
水草であるといって水抜きのない鉢に植え付けて水を溜めて育てる
人が多いけれども、鉢植えで育てる時は力が弱くて
十分に肥育しにくいため、本来の花が咲きにくく葉も
薄く弱いので、霜降（九月中）の節句頃には葉が完全でなくなる。
水抜きのある鉢植えの草は肥料を吸収することが早いため
十分に肥育して草が強いので、晩秋に至り
朝毎の霜にも慣れて夏時の姿を失わず、花が
咲かなくても眺めに趣がある。さて、また実生初咲きの草を鉢植えに
しようとするならば、開花の時に花形の優劣を鑑定して
根が腐らないよう掘り上げて花圃に移し植えて育て
おき、秋の彼岸に至って前述の扱い方で植え付けるのである。
春の彼岸中に鉢のまま掘り出し、日の強い場所に並べておく。
もっとも木の葉は取り除く。萌芽がおよそ三寸ほど生え出た
時から花茎が葉組の中に兆すまで魚肥料を
三度、花後から夏の土用明けまで二度、都合五度与える。
また向暑に至って鉢を縁際まで土中へ埋めておかないと炎暑に
