よりみちのく安積沼の花且美の実なり
迚贈越たり此実生長生して種々のはな
咲たり其草三代四代と実生勢られしに
弥変して大輪色逸たる花咲たれは殆悦
思れたり此草固水草なれとも水気を
はなし花圃に養れしに却て繁茂し
たれはつひに水を湛て培養ありし事

豫洲の某より先人へ贈りたる花且美に
かわらされは見まほしく乞たれは速に承
諾侍りて濃紫の六英贈越たり睘に養

みちのく安積沼の花菖蒲の実であるといって贈ってこられた。この実生は成長して種々の花を
咲かせた。その草を三代四代と実生で育てていくと
ますます変化して大輪で色の優れた花が咲いたので、とても喜ばれた。
この草はもともと水草であるが、水気を
離して花圃で養ったところ、かえって繁茂した
ので、ついに水を溜めて栽培することは
なかった。寛政の末年になると、やや見所のある花形も咲いた
けれども、今思えば雑花であったが、
その頃は賞美したものである。後に文化年間の夏、
肥田豊洲に会った時、【判読不明】の【判読不明】命によって
好んでいた頃、みちのくへ行ったが、彼の地に
安積沼と呼ぶ田地があり、その遺跡に花菖蒲と
称する草があり、花はたいそう美しい。すなわちその
上品なものを選んで持ち帰った。今なお園中に
生育しているのを見ると、彼の地にいた時の旅の様子を思い出すと
語った。その草の形状を推察するに、往時
伊予国の某が先人へ贈った花菖蒲と
変わりないようなので見たいと願い出たところ、速やかに承諾
いただいて、濃紫の六弁花を贈ってこられた。園で養育
