One: Rope/Structural assembler (組屋) — [Has been serving the shrine's needs in recent years] — Shin'emon One: Whetstone/Sharpener (砥屋) — [not specified] The above entries are as of the 27th day of the 2nd month. (When the above written register was shown to Kyūi Kihei-dono and [certain other person]-dono, they returned word that same evening that they were departing for the capital and that the matter should be conveyed to Kin'emon-dono.) One entry: On the same day, at the lower quarter of the Hour of the Monkey [around 5:00–6:00 PM], it was announced that the temporary shrine (gon-sha) would be hauled/moved, and immediately after the general peasants' (sō-hyakushō) construction work, Eizai raised his voice and began to haul it. Thereupon, the ujibito (shrine parishioners) rushed over and assembled the carpenters and general peasants, reprimanding them: "This is an outrageous state of affairs. It is the height of impropriety that you should haul it privately in this manner without having given prior notice that it should be hauled." While they were admonishing them, the subordinate magistrates (shimo-bugyō) also came rushing over, and they likewise berated the carpenters. Furthermore, since the foundation timbers of the capstan (rokuro) had split and it would be wrong to forcibly haul under such conditions, it was decided to stop for the evening and to reset the capstans from early the following morning, after which everyone departed. One entry: The 29th day. Clear skies. Early that morning, two capstans were reset, and by the upper quarter of the Hour of the Snake [around 9:00–10:00 AM], notices were sent out to the shrine officials (shashi), ujibito, tōne, shrine attendants (jinin), and peasants, all of whom were directed to assemble at the shrine precinct. (However, the shrine officials had a meeting at the Mori household and therefore did not attend.) The jinin dressed in yellow robes and carried sacred sakaki branches; taking their places at the main ropes under Eizai's direction, the general peasants hauled using the capstans and ropes, while the tōne took up positions closer to the front of the shrine,
