(Continued from previous page) Sakyō-no-suke, Kunai-no-taifu, Ukon-no-shōgen, Ujiyuki, and Ujisada — approximately ten persons in all — arrived at the shrine precincts at the Hour of the Sheep (未刻, around 2 p.m.). The shrine officials (shashi) and clan members (ujibito) were each dressed in purification robes (jōe). The sacred treasure storehouse (shinpō-ya) was then opened, and the metal fittings of each and every sacred implement were shown to Taiami one by one. Following this, the senior and junior master carpenters (shō/gon ryō daiku) were summoned, and measurements were taken of the hamayu-ka (ritual floor/dais), as well as (Interlinear note: Regarding the kakukaku/corner pieces) [in red] the karabitsu (Chinese-style storage chest), the hassoku (eight-legged stand), the御machine (sacred desk/tables), and other items. At this time, Takahisa took away the corner pieces (o-kakekado) and returned, thereafter storing them in the temporary shelter (kariya) for the sacred treasures. One entry: On the evening of the same day, a gathering was held at the residence of Mori Jibu. Among the ujibito (clan members) were seven persons: Ōi-no-kami, Kawachi-no-kami, Nagato-no-kami, Nuidono-no-suke, Shume-no-suke, Jirōsaku, and Mokku-no-jō. Among the shrine officials (shashi) were: Mochiohisa, Ke-an, Mitsuhisa, Jūfuku, Seihei, and Takahisa — (Interlinear note: arrived later) — six persons; totaling thirteen persons in all. Word had been quietly received by Nishimuro's Tonomo-no-kami (Tokuhisa [in red]) that a royal messenger bearing the imperial decree (senjishi) fixing the auspicious date and time for the provisional shrine (gon-sha) would arrive the following day at the Hour of the Monkey (申刻, around 4 p.m.), and this information was disclosed to those present. It was therefore discussed how the reception (aishirai) of the following day's imperial messenger should be conducted. Old records were consulted here and there, but as these were matters from long ago — many years having passed — no clear precedent could be found. It was therefore decided that there should first be a ceremony of three rounds of sake (sankon no shūgi) in ceremonial form, and a lengthy discussion ensued. Following this, there was item-by-item deliberation regarding the written list of the duties of various functionaries (shokunin). One entry: On the 6th day, in order to provide guidance regarding the ceremony for the imperial messenger (senjishi), the junior magistrate (shimo-bugyō) sent a messenger's note (tsukaifuda) from the general assembly (sōchū) to the residence of Kyūi-dono. Tomokuma, this person was presented/dispatched. Today, regarding the imperial court deliberations (jin-gi) fixing the auspicious date and time for the ridge-raising, pillar-raising, and provisional shrine transfer (kari-sengū) of the provisional shrine (gon-sha), </translation_ja>
