禁中において御執行になりました。それにつき、宣旨使が今日こちらへお越しになるべき由、今朝伝奏よりお申し越しがございました。
上古には宣旨使の時に饗膳・彼是の祝儀がございました由、旧記等に見え申し候えども、俄かな事でございますれば、まずこの注文のごとく祝儀を仕り候。内々に申し上げるべき義にございます候えども、宣旨使がいらっしゃる事も、またそうでない事もございますのにより、申し上げませんでした。重ねて正殿の時には、兼日より申すべく候間、然るべきようにお心得をお頼み申し上げ候。恐惶謹言。

The ceremony was conducted in the imperial palace (kinchū). Accordingly, word was sent this morning from the Denso (court liaison/transmitter of imperial communications) to the effect that the imperial messenger (senjishi) bearing the decree would be visiting here today.
In ancient times, it is recorded in old documents that on the occasion of an imperial messenger, there were banquets (kyōzen) and various celebratory ceremonies (shūgi). However, as this was a sudden matter, the celebration was conducted in accordance with this memorandum as written. It was something that should have been reported in confidence beforehand, but since it was uncertain whether the imperial messenger would come or not, no prior report was made. For the time of the main shrine (shōden), a report shall be made in advance of the day, and I humbly ask that the appropriate preparations be made accordingly. Respectfully submitted.
