(Continuation of the letter from the previous page)
Furthermore, once the bidding process for selecting craftsmen for the sacred treasures (shinpō) and their daily wages has been settled, I shall call upon you tomorrow evening, at which time I hope to discuss all matters with you in person. That is all.

Item: On the 6th day, rain. A meeting was held at the Eidō (Shadow Hall/Memorial Hall). Discussion was held regarding the matter of the ao-zamurai (blue-robed attendants), and also regarding all matters pertaining to the later arrival of the imperial messenger (senjishi).
Item: On the same day, in the Imperial Palace, there was a jingі (formal court assembly) to determine the date and time for the Gonsha (Kamo Gongen Shrine) [ceremony].
[In vermilion: Procedure for the Arrival of the Imperial Messenger (Senjishi)]
Item: On the same day, at the hour of the Monkey (approx. 4 p.m.), rain throughout the day. The imperial messenger (senjishi), Geki-sakyōe Abe no Morikatsu, and the deputy messenger (fuku-shi), Muneoka Ryōshi — both men — arrived. They first proceeded to the residence of the Nishimuro Tonomo-no-kami (as he was a long-acquainted friend). As a letter of explanation to the shrine community: the reason was that, per regulations, it would be proper to proceed directly from the formal court assembly in full court dress (sokutai) along the road; however, due to the long distance and the rainy weather, they had first gone improperly dressed to that residence, and they requested the indulgence and understanding of the shrine community in this matter. When it eventually cleared, Kannagi (Chief Shrine Priest) Takahisa (in sokutai), Senior Negi (Priest) Yoshihisa, Gon-negi (Associate Priests) Mitsuhisa, Shigemura (at this time standing in for Ujiyuki), Seihei, Tokuhisa, Shigeyori (the above in court dress, ikan), Keian, the imperial messenger Abe no Morikatsu, and the deputy messenger Muneoka Ryōshi (the above in sokutai) — [processed] from the First Torii gate…
