"...In any case, as this concerns the will of the deities (shinryo), it is difficult to determine (the proper course). Fortunately, since His Excellency Hino Shin-Dainagon (Mitsuhiro) is the Tensō (Imperial liaison) for this shrine, you should go to him, seek adjudication between (your side and) the Gyōjikan, and act in accordance with the precedents set down in the old records." With that, (Shūshū) departed. On their return, they proceeded to the Tensō's residence and presented the aforementioned matters, to which he replied: "Yesterday, (I had already sent word) for both parties to come forward," and each party then departed.
Item: At noon on the same day, Gomi-dono came up (to the shrine) to inspect the construction work. Here as well, the day's developments were reported to him. Among the uji-bito (clan members/shrine-affiliated persons) present were: Mondonokami, Ukon-no-shōgen, Kaga, Iyo, Ujisada, and Ujiyuki; and later arrived Ōi, Samanosuke, and Mimasaka — some twelve or thirteen persons in total. Among the sha-shi (shrine functionaries), Masahafuri and Jūshō arrived later. After a round of drinks (ichikon) was held in the wooden shed (koya), on their return, at the foot of the Sakadonobashi bridge, they saw off those returning to Kyoto; Mori, Matsushita, and the two zassho, four persons in total, attended (the send-off). Kaan also attended. At the foot of the Sakadonobashi bridge, the shrine monks Shōshōbō and Gyokuseibō, and the Tayū, plus one other whose name the author has forgotten — three persons in total — came out to pay their respects.
Item: On the same evening, a meeting (yoriai) was held at the Eidō (memorial hall). From there, the sha-shi gathered at Mori's residence. As there were matters that needed to be continued the following day, the following persons came: Mondonokami, Ōinokami, Saemon-no-tayū, Mokunokami, Samanonojō, Bitchū, Ukon-no-shōgen, Mimasaka, Bizen, Bingo, and Jirōsaku. On the sha-shi side, seven persons gathered: Mori, Yōkyū, Kannushi, Takahisa, Kaan, Jūshō, Setsukyū, Seihei, and Mitsuhisa. They deliberated on all matters. In any case, (the question of how to deal) with the Gyōjikan...
