Furthermore, the sacred mirror (goshinkyo) and the kake-tsuno (hanging ceremonial horns), being of a sacred and secret nature, were viewed only briefly. The bugyō (administrative officials), as well as the shrine priests, ujibito (clan members affiliated with the shrine), carpenters, and indeed even the painters, craftsmen, and lacquerers of ancient lineage, all expressed admiration at the quality of the craftsmanship. However, upon cross-referencing with the mokuroku (inventory list) submitted earlier, it was found that more than ten items were absent. A new inventory of the missing items was then prepared and submitted to Lord Gomi.
Items Found to be Missing:
- One large shōji (screen) - One御区角 palanquin - One set of sixty-tray dining vessels
- One御被 (covering cloth)《Marginal note: This is equipment used on the occasion of the shrine relocation (sengū) and was available at the time》 - One御茶碗 (tea bowl)
- One御装束 (ceremonial garments)《Marginal note: Fifteen colors; however, only the御直衣 (formal court robe) was present; all others had been simplified》
3rd Month, 10th Day
Having written this up as described above, it was sent to Lord Gomi. Accordingly, Yōkyū, Takahisa, Atsunao, and Hogaku — four persons in total — went to the bugyō's lodgings (Kiya). As the hour of the Hana-yō (an auspicious time) gradually approached after considerable deliberation, the head priest

returned early, as there was a celebratory gathering at his residence. However, he took the御掛角 (hanging ceremonial horns) with him, and it was noted that "they are items to be located again and properly stored."
One: On the same evening, a meeting (yoriai) was held at the Eidō (memorial hall), at which the response from the Tensō (court liaison officials) was disclosed. Furthermore, since there was a gathering of shrine priests and the Moridokoro (forest/grove administrative office), a messenger 《Marginal note: Sadanin (administrator)》 was sent to consult on matters of the jichin (ground-purification ceremony) and kiyoharae (purification ritual). Upon inquiry, it was found that the jichin ceremony required the御礎 (foundation stones)... [(Continued on the next page)]
