【Continuation of the Pillar-Raising Ceremony and Subsequent Records】
Next, one pillar was raised on the eastern side of the sanctuary front (omae), and then one pillar on the western side of the sanctuary front. With this, all ten sacred pillars had been raised. A round of drinks (ikkon) was served to all, from the shrine administrators (shashi) and clan members (ujibito) down to those of lower station. (However, the shrine administrators left early.)
Item: On the same day, a short while after the pillar-raising, Lord Gomi arrived and proceeded directly to the timber storehouse (kiya), where a lengthy informal conversation took place. Present from the shrine administrators were Takahisa and Mochiisa; from the clan members, Samanosuke, the Lord of Bungo, and the Lord of Ōi; from the shrine monks, Jōshōbō and Hyōbukyō. In addition, many other shrine administrators, clan members, and shrine monks arrived afterward. [At the amulet storehouse (ofuda-ya), a folding sake barrel (oridarami), side dishes, and noshi (dried abalone as a gift) were presented as three-sun offerings, and the shrine administrators and clan members were all treated to a feast.]
Item: A ceremonial barrel of sake to celebrate the pillar-raising was presented to Her Highness the Chūgū (the Imperial Consort) and to the Karasuma household. Further details are recorded in the Sōchū Hinami-ki (the general daily record).
Item: On the same day, since a summons came from Lord Gomi, Mochiisa, Takahisa, and the estate manager (zassho) attended. This concerned a matter regarding the Chief Priest.
Item: The 17th day. Clear skies. As promised the previous day, Mochiisa and the estate manager went to call upon Lord Gomi. The documents (chumon) pertaining to the ridge-raising were then opened and examined. [The record of these documents is preserved in the Sōchū Hinami-ki.]
Item: Lord Suōnokami arrived; Iyo Kakuemon happened to be present before him at that time and withdrew.
Item: Today, the upper rafters (uwataruki) were finished and the bargeboard gables (hafu) were affixed. As a precaution against rain, sedge mats (sugakomo) were laid over everything as a temporary covering.
Item: The 18th day. Clear in the morning, with some light rain in the afternoon. A meeting (yoriai) was held. This was in response to the messages from Lord Gomi and Lord Suō from the previous day. Details are recorded in the Hinami-ki.
