(Continued from the previous page) The number of dancers (maibito) remained the same as before. From today, all five of the senior ladies (jōrō) supervising the sacred garments had their eyebrows groomed/drawn. The wives of the shrine administrators (shashi), as on the previous day, came out and assisted. Tomotsugu [red vertical mark] recorded the measurements of the sacred robes (o-fuku), the sacred informal court robes (o-nōshi), the sacred formal robes (o-shōzoku), and other items; and regarding the cutting of the robes, so that the subsequent [work] would not be poorly done—the mother of Mori Mochiiku cut [the cloth], but this was a great error. Therefore, the daughter of the Governor of Tōtōmi (Tōtōmi-no-kami) [red vertical mark] [side note: Known as "Tayū," she was knowledgeable in the cutting and sewing of the Emperor's robes in the imperial palace (kinchū), and so she transmitted to Mochiiku's mother how the cutting and sewing of the robes on this occasion should be properly done. This matter was the greatest disgrace to all those assembled].
Item: On the 7th day, it rained. The sewing of the sacred robes continued, with the same number of people as before.
Item: On the same day, a record of the disbursement of a receipt (kitte).
Regarding the receipt of provisions expenses (makanai-ryō) for the period of sacred retreat (sanrō):
Total: 2 kan [side note: Out of the 16 kan for eight shrine administrators (shashi), including the share of one person, Gon-no-hafuri Ōkura [red vertical mark], this amount is now received. After deliberation between Matsushita [red vertical mark] and Mori [red vertical mark], the receipt will be consolidated onto a single sheet and forwarded.]
The above has been duly received, as stated.
Kan'ei 5th year, 4th month, 6th day [two red vertical marks alongside] Kamo Zassho (Kamo Shrine General Administrator)
Fujiki Uemon-no-taifu

To: Enami Shichirōemon-dono
Item: On the same day, two sculptors—Daibutsu-shi, Sakyō, and Shikibu [red vertical marks]—came bringing the completed sacred lion-dogs (o-shishi and koma-inu), saying that they were finished. These were handed over to the monthly administrator (tsuki-gyōji) at the shrine. However, both of the koma-inu (lion-dog figures) had gold [gilding/gold leaf]... (continues on next page)
